I have no idea. I've never even heard of that being an issue before. I looked up yeast infections on wikipedia and it didn't cite oral sex as a cause of them. I think maybe she's just being paranoid...

That is not how you get a yeast infection. I think the only way a chick could get a yeast infection would be from fingering her with dirty fingers... I'm pretty sure she doesn't know what she's talkin about...

"What causes vaginal yeast infections?
Vaginal yeast infections occur when new yeast is introduced into the vaginal area, or when there is an increase in the quantity of yeast already present in the vagina relative to the quantity of normal bacteria. For example, when the normal, protective bacteria are eradicated by antibiotics (taken to treat a urinary tract, respiratory, or other types of infection) or by immunosuppressive drugs, the yeast can multiply, invade tissues, and cause irritation of the lining of the vagina (vaginitis).

Vaginal yeast infections can also occur as a result of injury to the inner vagina, such as after chemotherapy. Also, women with suppressed immune systems (for example, those taking cortisone-related medications such as prednisone) develop vaginal yeast infections more frequently than women with normal immunity. Other conditions that may predispose women to developing vaginal yeast infections include diabetes mellitus, pregnancy, and taking oral contraceptives. The use of douches or perfumed vaginal hygiene sprays may also increase a woman's risk of developing a vaginal yeast infection.

A vaginal yeast infection is not considered to be a sexually transmitted infection (STD), since Candida may be present in the normal vagina, and the condition does occur in celibate women. However, it is possible for men to develop symptoms of skin irritation of the penis from a yeast infection after sexual intercourse with an infected partner."

I agree w/ the above. The only thing I can think to add is yeast infections might occur if you are giving oral w/ something in your mouth.... like candy, chocolate, mints w/ sugar. Sugar can throw off the balance and cause issues... but JUST plain ol oral doesn't cause this.
I think maybe she's just nervous and trying to think of ways to avoid topic???

Agreed. Sounds like she's a) misinformed and/or b) uncomfortable with the idea and giving an excuse so she doesn't just have to just leave it at 'no I'm weirded out by it'. Some just ARE weirded out by it. I was until it was done the first time, and if she's anything like I was, she can't fathom you actually WANTING to put your mouth there.

At a moment when play is not on the table, talk with her about it. Talk about medical info on what causes them, and sincerely ask her if that's all that's bothering her about it, or if there's anything else. Don't put pressure, merely discuss. And LISTEN to what she says. If she's having a mental block about it, THAT'S OK, and she needs you to tell her so. She needs you to give her the time and space to come around, and she needs to know you're fine with doing so.

It happens that the human mouth, which is less hygienic than a healthy vagina, does, in fact, host the organism causing yeast infections.

I have had patients with chronic yeast infections respond to their partners dealing with this.

There are good mouth washes that will limit this; they are not widely available. Talk to your dentist about what is recommended for controlling really bad breath. The same stuff will work for yeast. I use a product called BreathRx recommended by my (German) dentist.

I know that it isn't common, but I can testify first hand that you definitely can get a yeast infection from oral sex. My bf has chronic/recurrent thrush due to medications he's one, and I get yeast infections regularly due to this. It falls under "...yeast introduced to the vaginal area."

In this case, it sounds like she is being paranoid. It could also be that if she is very prone to yeast infections and any slight imbalance could trigger one. The best thing to do is talk to her about why she believes this, and then figure out if she's working with good information.

Well in GiGi's case... this would be true since thrush is basically a yeast infection of the mouth... so of course putting the mouth on a vagina would cause one

I agree w/ Int... she may just be weirded out.
Has she had previous b/fs? maybe they went down on her and then she ended up w/ a yeast infection or irritation??
