Unhappy

My fiance and I began shaving our pubic region a few months ago. *I always thought I would feel 12 if I did it, but he asked and I obliged. *He also shaved his at the same time. *I have to say I really like his, and he loves mine, so I keep shaving it. *My problem is that I have gone through many brands of razors and haven't found one that works really good. I also tried one of those home waxing kits and that failed. *I have looked around for a wazing salon and can't seem to find one that does full genital waxing. *Does anyone know a really good product to use instead of a razor?

i know...i'm a guy, but i still shave my pubes, and for doing so i use a mach 3 turbo. I'm not sure if it'd be the same when trying to shave around the lips at all, but if you try gently shaving directly against the grain (and don't make too many strokes or you get razor burn from my experience, if it isn't smooth in three strokes, wait till the next time you need a shave) it works very well. I've also found that a brand new razor gives you razor burn as bad as an old one that needs retired. Wait till you've used it three or four times to judge whether it works well without the burn or not.
I've learned all this from experience, so there might still be a better way out there. I'd be interested as well if there is.

(and i'm sure shaving is still more painless than plucking * )

oh, and if there are any other guys that read this, i recommend shaving. it definitely feels better than having an untamed jungle down there.

I'm a guy, and i've been shaving down there for about a year now. what i've found is that a mach 3 or mach 3 turbo work the best (i'm not sure what the equivalent brand for women is). All of the advice given is very important, but here's some stuff that i've heard that have helped me.

instead of using Shaving cream, use your hair conditioner. Leave it on for about a minute or two before shaving, that gets the hair nice and soft and easily shavable. in addition, it also tastes a little better if u think someone is going down on you soon after.

In addition, After you're done, try putting cold water on. After getting out of the shower (which is the best place to shave), i usually turn on the sink very cold, and just use my hand to cool off my genital area. this closes the pores thus decreasing the risk of zits/razor burn.

What worked for me after I shave is deodorant. Seriously, I read somewhere that some XXX star did that and tried it, and it seemed to work. I stopped having it get itchy or razor burn or ingrown hairs.

In my experience, I have found that this works rather well.

If you have long pubic hair, use a small pair of scissors to trim the hair down first.

Both men and women should choose a female razor, rather than an ordinary safety razor.

I have found this to be true. I was told by my doctor once, that if I were going to shave, to use an upscale brand type razor because before hand, when I shaved, I would buy the cheap razors and end up with nicks, cuts, you name it! lol But this is just what our doc told us to use. We actually use a Mach 3 as well. (LOVE Mach3's)

Wet a washcloth and lay it over the entire pubic area for two or three minutes. Alternatively, take a long hot bath or stay in the shower for a while making sure the pubic area receives a lot of water. Pubic hair needs more time to soften for the shave.

Apply plenty of shaving foam or gel over the area and leave for a few minutes to soften further. Ordinary soap is not suitable as it does not lock in the moisture to the hair the way a shaving preparation cream or gel does.
I used soap a lot too, and it did irritate my skin. As we know, women are sensitive down there and need something that isn't going to cause more harm than good.

Shave upwards against the grain. I usually shave with the grain once and then again, against the grain. It works well for me, but you might want to try it and see how it works for you. If you shave bare, it can cause razor burn.

Massage unscented Vitamin E oil into the pubic area after shaving.

To keep my pubic area moisurized and keep it from getting irritating, I rub vitamin E on me and it does work wonders. I have tried lotions, creams, and all sorts of things. I also use Nivea cream, in the glass jar and it works GREAT!!!

Everyone has great suggestions. What I suggest, is that you find whats right for you and follow it.

Best of luck!
SG

i use a schick intuition (the one with the soap already around the razor head) just because it leaves you soft even when the hair starts to grow back. but because of the size of the head with the soap around it, you have to get another razor to get those tighter corners.
baths do wonders in thsi situation. soak for at least 10 minutes before shaving. i also put baby oil in the bath water for extra soft skin : )
even though the intuition(LOVE LOVE LOVE that thing! saves soo much time) has soap already around it, i also rub in some Coochy rash free body shave cream ()

after shaving put some very very mild lotion on the area and/or baby oil to relieve red bumps and itch.

you guys have some great advice! ill have to try that mach 3 out...
