There is a huge amount of discussion on here about penis size and all of it seems to be about size when it's erect. My concern is when it is soft! I hate going into public toilets and wouldn't dream of going into a communial changing room at a swimming pool.
My wife doesn't have any concerns about it but I do! I find it embarrassing and at times difficult to deal with.
When I am hard, it falls well into the average range both in length and girth.
Anyone else have the same dilemma?

If you are in the average when you are hard, I believe you will be in the average when you are soft. I would worry less about those type situations, you have married and comfortable with you sex life right? Then who cares what some other snooping person sees. More then likely they will be same size or not much different.
Some people have a longer penis when soft, some have shorter. It really comes down to the same factors as erect penis size.
Genetics.
Also, temperature can play a major role too.
You're forgetting one crucial thing:
Soft penises are ugly!
That's very constructive curious woman. Thank you
Hehe yea...they are pretty fugly if you ask me
I think a man's body is gorgeous, especially when the brain functions! I do believe though women have "prettier" parts & men have a more "defined" look!:) Never thought of them as ugly! The only "ugly" thing is a nasty person!
I never pay much attention to a soft penis . . . . it's a given it's going to look substantially different hard, and if it's small than more than likely you're a "grower, not show-er". ;-)

I'm sorry, but it was a silly question. Why does it matter how you look when you're soft? Thats not when its important. If you're insecure about it, use a bathroom stall and don't shower in mixed company. Simple as that.
Why is it a silly question?
It is a genuine concern. Obviously you don't have any issues regarding your body but that doesn't give you the right to make judgement on others who have. As they say, until you have walked in someone elses shoes, don't criticise!
I thought that this was a forum to help and support anyway

Actually, I do have issues with my body. You asked opinions, and coming from the opposite sex, I stated the (un)attractiveness of a soft cock. (you're married and didn't mention you were gay so I assume you care how women feel)
Aside from that, if your self esteem is what is troubling you, try a new haircut or some fresh clothes, something to spice your look up and feel good about yourself. Working out is also good, gets those hormones flowing.
In my surgery, I see all sizes and shapes and angles. Some are just a the glans peeking out from the pubic hair. Some really dangle. More than a few become at least partially erect during the exam (these guys are usually trying to look down my blouse while I am exploring). They all seem to be functional and there is no known relationship between soft-size and hard-size among normal men.

Don't you love that one? Ever had a patient reach out to touch???? Geez, that takes some balls! Or they brush up against you "accidentally". Learned quick to back away fast!:D
Haha wow that does take some balls sera. If you want something to laugh at though, yesterday went in for a check up. (Finally have insurance again!)
Nurse came in. And she was new, but hands down the most attractive woman I ever met. Anyways, she starts asking me questions about sexual history, if I ever have had unprotected sex etc. Well obviously this got me thinking and the nurse was hot so needless to say I had to put my hands over my lap.
Then the doctor came in and asked me to drop my pants....I dont know how many times a male doctor has had a patient with an erection but needless to say that was the most awkward moment in my life....and I dont think I have ever walked out of an office so fast.
Yes, that does take balls - which, of course, I am holding in my hands as he peeks. If I were male I would consider that rather high risk!
Ducy, according to my male colleagues they see that frequently - especially after the nurse takes a history with provocative questions.
When I worked in the ER? Had to ask one of the "Older" nurses to insert Foley catheters! One-men were embarrassed & Two-they had a hard on when they took their pants down. Three-when the procedure was explained I preferred not to be the one!
Worse moment? Gathering items and bending over and hearing a comment "nice underwear"! A few intoxicated men got touchy feely...
I have to say that Curious_Woman does not speak for everyone when she says that a soft penis is ugly, I for one, think the one that I see is absolutely gorgeous. :D. More helpful advice would have probably done bartona's self-esteem better, rather than the advice of a new hair cut etc., he had a genuine concern and needed his confidence building not knocking.
I think Trisha makes some very very good points...........Self esteem is very
important to anybody and everybody.

I know that, and I agree 100%. All I was saying is that perhaps he should focus on things about himself he can change, because you cannot change the look of a flaccid penis.
*shrug*
Penis size when soft?
Just looks like a blob ... not good, not bad ...
just is.
The way a flacid penis looks constantly changes with weather and blood flow. I like the way my flacid penis looks when I'm relaxed and warm. After cold weather or working out it doesn't look so good anymore because a lack of blood to the area.
