What is it about doggie style?

Okay just thought I'd ask, but, what is it about doggie style? Why does it seem that many of us like it over all the other positions? Missionary is cool, cowgirl and reverse cowgirl are great too. Yet if you look at the surveys many women like it and so do men.

Gentlemen why do we love it, and Ladies why do you?

It is our original ancestral sex position. This is just a guess of mine: maybe doing it "doggy style" stirs some deep ancestral memory deep inside of us. But, the most obvious reason is that it feels really good.

Dlb: I can understand your point it, I do feel a calling to it in every episode. I've never really been one to consider my self animalistic but of all the positions this is the only position widely practiced through out humanity and the animal kingdom. You know, I remember the first times I tried doggie style the flood of emotions was so intense that it used to be my kryptonite, I couldn't do it. There definitely is dominance and submission. Think about it biologically; in doggy, the female (or reciever) is completely exposed. Neck, organs, spine, there's no protection. They're at a complete disadvantage, and being submissive is in their best interests (not that they wouldn't be having fun, but I imagine some encounters would have been hostile).

This also ties in with why some guys can have a very hard time with mmf threesums and/or are very possessive, biologically guys don't want to share "their" women. It made the chance of their genes passing on less likely if their mate(for lack of a better word. I'm tired, leave me alone! :P) was with other guys.

It's funny, but when you look at sex, you see that we are still a very primal species.

Rogue, going back to the primal idea, if I increase the amount of skin to skin friction, for example, if my chest is on her back and my hands hugging her cupping her breast, there is a stronger connection and the heat is intense. Animals have more skin to skin friction in doggie style then we do. For example, the male dogs chest is resting on the female dogs back, the same with horses and cows. So for me the primal the position the greater the intensity. While of course if I keep the contact between my hands and her waist or hips and penis to vagina, I'm definitely in a more dominant position

I think Rouge makes an excellent point about submission. This may make me sound naive or weak or something, but I find T's strength and power as a man a huge turn on. The other thing of submission for me, is giving up control. I spend all day, every day, so self-controlled, so prim and proper. I've always been very conscious of propriety, my whole life. Int1103 I don't think it makes you sound weak at all in fact, I think our bodies were made for each other. This is from my own observance but I think our bodies as men are powerful and strong and structured (figuratively speaking) so that we can provide the support in a physical sense to the woman in our lives. Its really just as you have explained, at the end of the day when your finished leading throughout your day you can come home and rest in the strong arms of your man. While we as men, after a day of work dealing with the rigors of the day we want to come home to something warm soft not rough and crazy like the world of work is.

So Rouge (sorry I spelt your name wrong in the previous reply's ) but, do you think this mean that some women may not like the position because intuitively they may feel dominated or even worse degraded? what do you mean you don't understand it, could you elaborate on that?
