Reduce Masturbating

I'm still recovering from mono, so I have to "take it easy". Unfortunately, laying around all day and staying at home is BORING. As a result, I jackoff, even though I know I shouldn't. I say that I shouldn't because jacking-off can take quite a bit of energy, and that's not good when you're sick. Usually, when I jack-off, I take at least 30 minutes. I enjoy it, and take my time. So I'm having a hard time (no pun intended ) resisting the urge, and only doing it for like 10 minutes (which I don't find very satisfying anyways)...

So my question is: Is there something I can do that will act like an anti-aphrodisiac and take away my urges?

I read a lengthy paper a few years ago that was written back in the dark ages. It was a church doctrine that addressed the matter of abstinence with regard to teenage boys and young adults. Specifically, the paper was a parent's guide for teen conduct and the harmful affects of masturbation. I wish I had saved it or knew where on the net I could find it, again.

So, why am I beginning a reply with this information? Because one of the "cures" to a young man's urges, it was professed, was to divert his attention to other matters. It was mandated that a boy be kept busy with chores, school work, and other family obligations in order to keep his mind busy so it would not have time or space to think about matters of the flesh. (Now, in theory this is all well and good yet I found a glaring omission because as righteous as the position report was, it failed to adress those early morning hours before getting out of bed and the late night hourse after retiring when a boy's mind tends to wander as might his hand.

Suggestions like taking a cold shower that might work for a healthy individual are not prudent for a person whose fatigue level prevents him from getting out of bed. TV, radio, music, and reading, work only so far before you become fatigued from any one or all of these activities; so, what is a body to do.

I did a cursory search of the illness on the net and found the matter of sex while recovering discussed, however, I was unable to learn if working up a climax by whatever means (masturbation or sex) is indeed harmful and not recommended during recovery. The only mention about expending energy is that you should not exert any energy--even if you were able to because it will prolong the recovery.

Thanks for the info doc and ryouko. That link, Ryouko, is comical, but also sorta helpful lol. I just hope I get better NOW! I was feeling pretty decent the past few days, but today, I'm feeling crappy again. Maybe too much jacking-off again lol This really sucks. It has put such a strain on my life. I feel like I'm being punished for some unknown misdeed *sigh*

Thank you Ryouko for the LDS link. This is quite similar to what I remember, although what I remember reading was from a different religion. Considering the religious views of the time, it is likely many religions held the same views. This will work--THANKS.

If you know about your illness then you know that you are not being punished. Because Mono is a lingering condition and drains a person of their energy, the strain is understandable.

Doc, I think I've read something very similar to what you were just talking about. The one I read said that for the early morning and late evening, a young male with not enough self control should be physically restrained in his bed and or wear super restrictive clothing that is difficult to remove...(Hmmm...Like a straight jacket and a bed harness?). Now if that's not the next closest thing to a nut house I don't know what is! Those silly fundamentalists!

lol, tie your hands back and watch sports. make sure you change the channel during halftime (in refference to football) or else you will find yourself staring at a chearleader's half-naked chest.

Brandye is a jewel in the rough
There is nothing about masturbating that should affect your recovery from mono unless you feel exhausted when done.

The rest of the discussion is great. I wish I had checked on it earlier. I am aware of one male religious order that requires all the novices to sleep in one large dormitory in double bunks. Everything must be under the covers except the hands. If a hand disappears or a foot appears during the night, the monitor awakes the transgressor and berates him a bit.

Thanks for the replies. Doc, you're always so insightful and knowledgeable. Brandye, my problem is when I masturbate, I can never do it for just 10 minutes. I just can't. Heck, I remember a few weeks ago, I was feeling much better, it was a friday night, nobody was around, all my friends were out doing things, so I jacked-off for 3 hours :s Pretty sad. But let me tell you, I paid for it. THe next few days were just brutal, I felt worse than ever. I think if I just stop all together for the next while, I'll be able to recover faster. I need your support! lol
