In your sleep

I've heard plenty about boys having wet dreams and such... but is it normal for girls to have orgasms in their sleep? I've noticed from time to time that if I ignore my urges for a day or two, I'll start to have very sexual dreams, masturbating in my sleep- and I've even gotten to the point of having an orgasm from arousing thoughts alone. Is that strange? >>'

:P Well, I guess I can be thankful for that, you're right. It just seemed odd to me.

It is not odd at all.

Both genders have wet dreams.

If you are sound asleep, how would you know if you are thrusting? Of course, there would be evidence on the sheets or bed clothing if you ejaculated during the night by whatever means.

I don't think there's any way to know about the thrusting, really ... but yes women do have wet dreams - some more often than others & some more vividly than others

We had a thread on this about a year ago. There is some difference between men and women experiencing sexual dreams. For men, the wet dream or nocturnal emission is a physiological imperative. Men are constantly generating sperm and semen. Much is reabsorbed into the body; some is stored in the prostate for the next ejaculation. The excess is most often eliminated by masturbation or actual sex. If the amount exceeds storage capacity, a we dream ensues and the man awakens in a little puddle. Or, as I understand it, usually in the process of making that puddle.

Women have no such physiological need so sexual dreams are a result of romantic thoughts, desires or whatever. The woman who started the thread previously seemed to frequently awaken in the throes of orgasm. In my case, I have awakened in a high state of readiness and usually finish myself off. Not all women have these experiences and there is no known relationship between sexual activity (or lack thereof) and these dreams.

In the early days of the church, sexuality was suppressed and both monks and nuns were extremely guilty over sexual dreams. The explanation was that spirits were having intercourse with them. The incubus would visit women in the night and have sex with them whilst sleeping. Not a few nuns became pregnant to these spirits! It was a succubus who visited the monks and screwed them. Because they were spirits, they could not contain the semen and it simply leaked all over the monk and the bed.

Sexual outlet during sleep is the reason I've never felt much need for self-stimulation. They are not "dreams" in the sense that I don't remember any mental content (unlike other dreams) but they culminate in orgasm near waking from a sound sleep. Something going on in the subconscious, I guess. My friends say none of them have experienced this which is why they use vibrators, etc. Anyway, these experiences come and go and don't seem to relate to anything going on in my waking experience. I've had them both when celibate and when in a relationship.

I usually partially wake up right before it happens... but sometimes it's the orgasm itself that wakes me, or I wake with that certain -feeling- that comes after one and I remember what kind of dreams I was having. :P

S'kinda embarrassing, I have the worry in the back of the mind of what if someone sees it happen.... It's not really something I can control.
