I would have to disagree with you from a personal and professional point. I have had only one wet dream in my lifetime and I have gone long periods without ejaculating. Being a veterinarian I disagree with the "male physical imperative." The male testes are constantly producing sperm but these are just absorbed by the body after storage when not used. Our bodies are not that much different from other mammals and stallions, bulls, and male dogs kept without females don't just ejaculate because they are full. Neither do we. I thought with your medical background you would be aware of the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the male body and the fact that we just don't reach a point of running over and ejaculate.
Well, we are in a professional disagreement. Yes, most of the semen and sperm are absorbed into the body. When, however, the production outruns the storage capability, it has to go somewhere.
Humans are my purview and I just rang the local veterinarian - large animal. She does report that some animals do both masturbate and release. Not as nocturnal emissions, but release nonetheless. Any male after puberty reaches a point of balance beyond which the autnomic emission becomes quite infrequent. It is a rare young man who has not experienced wetdreams during puberty.

You are correct about the semen possibly being in the urine however, but that is not ejaculating or a nocturnal emission.
