Hello there this is my first time posting here though I have had the chance to read many of the threads and I find them quite informative.
Now here is the thing talking about health and such.
I was wondering if you could tell me what exactly it is when u get sweeling the labia minora. Yes for some reason it usually happens 1 week aprox away from my period. It looks like if i had a pebble stuck inside the labia itself. pimple looking thing. comes and goes away montly as i mentioned.
I would really appreciate if anyone could tell me 1) what exactly this things are ( i believe he have read about this somewhere but still not sure) 2) it is quite uncomfortable (painful) especially when wearing jeans, not to mention when they break it burns like hell, so what could i do to make it not as painful? .
I have gone to the gynecologist but it turned out not to be a good idea. I haven't had so much prejudice before when discussing any health issues. Therefore I thought I could post this here and have Brandye (if it is possible) address this question.
thank you lots.

Try a female GYN; one thing I learned is choosing a doctor is like shopping, pick who you are comfortable with. Also, female Nurse Practitioners are good. Seek a MD who is willing to openly discuss your concerns in a non-judgmental manner.
If you have not been sexually active, I would tend to believe this "pebble" which re-occurs monthy is perhaps a small cyst or a gland which is draining properly and not a STD. Herpes 1 can be transmitted to the vaginal area if someone who had the oral virus had direct contact w/your vaginal area.
Get an appointment w/a doc and get seen, and keep trying until you find one you are comfortable with.
As our cycle follows the moon and our hormone levels rise and fall, fluid retention is very real. For a few days before my period, I wear a different bra size. Engorgement of the labia is also common. The brests, legs and genitals are the things that accumulate the greatest fluid. So, it is not unusual that your labia menora would swell up a bit.
The pebble like thing you describe needs to be addressed. It could be as simple as a pimple or ingrown but if it occurs monthly, it could be something else. You describe it as being on the labia menora, not the majora and that could be significant. Fewer than five percent of all women develop cysts in their Glands of Bartholin. Do search for female reproductive tract and follow along here. If the "pebble" is right beside your vaginal entrance, either side, this should be checked and you may have to make an open-ended appointment for when it is there. If, however, if it is not directly beside the vaginal entrance, it is most likely a blind pimple that surfaces at certain hormone levels. Some women have acne outbreaks at that time.
In neither case is this serious and it does not sound like an STD. You really should have it looked at by a doctor. Some of us GPs are knowledgeable and a good gyn can put your mind at ease and take care of it. I am sorry that you ended up with a jerk and that is plenty of reason to seek out another. I have my prejudices but women tend to be more sensitive to female issues.
well it is in your best interest to get a new gyno doctor, cause seriously a part of becoming a gyno better include developing great people skills.
But im a dude so i don't know anything about gyno's personally. i do know that i talk about my sex life with my physician and its a very open and honest conversation, i don't feel judged or that he holds any prejudice for my days of having a lot of partners.
try to get a new doctor
I hate to scare you but some of your symptoms are similar to Genital herpes. The girl im dating contracted it 2 years ago and it is much more common than you would feel comfortable to know, alot of men have herpes and just dont know it (depends on his immune system). so get to a doctor and get that checked out.
Hello there,
True that I need a new gyno, but it is soooo hard to find a good one. Trust me I have bad luck :( Maybe a lady doctor would be best....
Now the question is, can u get herpes even when you have never been sexually active (my case)??? sorry for the ignorance on this...
not the std HSV2 virus
you can get the hsv1 virus by kissing someone
but all that is, is cold sores really not a big deal.
Hello thank you all for your help and for the explanations on this matter.
Went to the dr. and 'alas' yes only draining glands. Interesting stuff, you never hear about at all.
Yes I should get over the whole jerk dr. issue at some point, so now on a gyn hunt ;)
thank you again
