open relationship

anyone have tips on how to make these work?

I think for it to work that every party has to enter in to the relationship wanting an open relationship. I currently have one and it is working fine for now because both girls wanted an open relationship.

You are not in an open relationship per say....such as in an open marriage. You are seeing others yet have your mind on one. Go w/the flow & have fun.

Main point is; during your time w/each person you are seeing or dating keep 100% focused on that one. Be present both mentally & physically...

What do you thin happens when you are dating post-divorce? You date all, keep your mouth shut, see who is about what, have fun, ask questions, and see who "stands out". The one you care for who is willing to stand up and say "enough"...is the one [assuming you feel the same] and assuming he wants a committed relationship w/exclusivity and is around frequently--then you think about it.

Remember that in open relationships every person involved is assuming the disease risks of each and every other person involved. These thing spread rapidly.

Which is why one uses all the protection one possibly can and this includes picking one's sexual partners very carefully and going in for periodic testing. 3 months if very active; 6 months if active and once per year if not so active with one's partner(s) going on the months you aren't - each of you playing 'canary in the coal mine' for all of the others.

Open relationships work very well if ALL partners are mature enough. If even one is not - then it all goes to hell rather quickly. But you MUST state your position on this topic UP-FRONT to all those involved - and to all prospective partners.

Condoms...BCP's and routine STD checks works quite well...if playing around, STD prevention is a MUST. And never take a risk or a chance...

What is canary in the coal mine???

If the canary drops over, there is methane present - get out of the coal mine. Practice begun in Wales a few centuries ago.

EEK must have been a coal miner in a previous life,

Thanks Brandye! I sort of missed that analogy & was confused!

No, I am just extraordinarily well-read.

According to my ancestry chart, there's a man nicknamed "Skull-Splitter" in my family tree - sounds like a 'fun date' don't you think?

Yes, sounds like a blast for a date! Sort of like my "dates from Hell"!!!

I think of canaries as the first biosensors, which my lecturer found very amusing when he was asking for examples of biosensors and I gave him canaries. Biological testing part, signal (death of the bird) and output, they technically are.

Hey, what do you want from Vikings? Sweetness and light? At least he wasn't the ancester who strangled his father-in-law and then killed his wife on her way to church. Someone had 'anger issues'? Amazing what you can find out if you look.

When to comes to sex, all of your partners are "biosensors". *Tweet. Tweet*
