The odds...

Howdy y'all,

I'm just wondering how likely it is that my girlfriend can be pregnant - given these circumstances. Here are the details...

My girlfriend started her period on Aug 5th. We had sex on Aug 13th and I accidentally came inside her. After doing some research, I found that her fertile days might be around Aug 19, since she has a 28 day cycle. I am so confused and scared. We can't afford to have a baby at this point in our lives!

I just want to know if it is LIKELY that a baby could be on the way, or if it's NOT LIKELY. Thanks everyone.

Who knows? Life goes on and we all experience aches and pains of unknown origin. Could be the egg implanting or it could be gas. Or any of a thousand other things. I say again: Sweating out periods can be a drain.

Hey again everyone,

To update the situation, last night my girlfriend was having sharp pains in her abdomen. We thought it could be apendicitis, but she wanted to wait until this morning to see if the pain was still there. It is not a sharp pain anymore, just "sore" she says.

Can this be related to pregnancy?
Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

Well, you took a real risk. Now some reality. Even with a fertile woman, pregnancy results only about a quarter of the time. About half of all pregnancies end in early miscarriages - often the woman is not even aware she was pregnant.

How the hell do you "accidentally" come. You put a bare penis in a healthy vagina so anything that results is hardly an accident.

You have waited too long for the morning after pill; a home pregnancy test may allay your fears somewhat. You were not in the theoretical ovulation days but few women are regular enough in ovulation to be real sure.

Maybe this is a wakeup call but sweating the period can dampen relationships.

It could be likely. Women will not ovulate the same day every month, that's why most sites you read give you a big general range of like 9 to 16 days (or something like that) of her ovulating and being the most fertile.

I'm generally a 28 day cycle person (sometimes a day or 2 before and sometimes a day or 2 after. Just depends.), and while I can't pinpoint the exact day when I'm most likely to get pregnant, I can tell there's a few days in there where I just feel, "different", so to speak and those days are not the same every cycle.

If you're worried, you can go get a pregnancy test a little closer to her period.
In the meantime, don't freak out, and don't let her freak out. You'll only make it worse and she can skip her period because of all the stress, which just causes you to stress more.

If push comes to shove, there are alternatives you can take such as abortion or simply giving it up for adoption.
If you don't believe in abortion, that's fine, but at least you can put it up for adoption and give it better care than you could probably give, especially if you don't want it and can't afford it.
