I had a physical about a month ago by a new doctor. The nurse came in first and said to take everything off and to but the gown on and left. When the doctor came in he asked me a few standard questions in the beginning. Right before he started the exam he asked me to remove the gown. I was a bit in shock as I was naked underneath. He had me do the physical in the buff from beginning to end. I had never had this done before usually they will have you leave the gown on until the end or if they want you to remove the gown they will usually have the nurse tell you to leave your underwear on. Initially I was embarrassed but my doctor is a male so we both have the same equipment maybe different size.
Just curious has anyone else here had to do a physical in the buff from beginning to end? What was your reaction? He was professonal the whole time I just didn't see that as common practice.

Happens every time i have a physical. nothing out of the ordinary here, harder to do when one of the lady doctors has to give me the physical though, lol i get very self aware
The appropriate thing to do is to keep the patient covered and only exposed as you go at some point it is appropriate to see the body as a whole, but you should always recover the patient. Many docs and other's forget how uncomfortable stripping a patient of modesty is.
I know it's just me (I've long gotten over embarrassment in situations with doctors) but I'd prefer to forget the stupid gown. The damn thing doesn't close right, you have to remove it for the hernia check (or at least pull it out of the way). It just seems to be a nuisance. If it helps, just think of the doctor in the same way you would a mechanic checking out your car . . . . at least that's what I do.
