After two kids, my sex life took a nose dive. Now that my daughter and son are in 4th and 6th grade, though, my lust is burning. Being fairly conservative, I've never played with sex toys. But I'm very curious--and pretty embarrassed. I found this article on the web, [url="http://www.nsrc.sfsu.edu/HTMLArticle.cfm?Article=383"]Plug It In, which was helpful. But does anyone have any other advice? I'm not a hot "sex and the city" kind of girl, just a 30-something housewife. I need help!

Oberon is completely right about Adult stores. They are great and no one will bat an eye at any question or what you purchase. They have seen it all.

Also so many of them now are very user friendly for women. The one I go to has a display of all the vibrators that you can turn on and hold before buying. Very helpful.

Adult stores used to be on the wrong side of town, in little dirty buildings that mostly catered to men. Now they are big and bright and no different then going into a Walgreens. Go with a friend and have fun.

Heck the last time I was there I thought I had to personally test every flogger out against my arms. I paid for a vibe with red streaks all up and down me and just laughed with the clerk that I couldn't buy them all.

There are also about a million sex toy stores on the net and I have used many of them and have usually always been very happy. This site has a very good one with reasonable prices.

Most important is that if you want to experiment with toys then don't let a little shyness discourage you. They are wonderful! Read some of the threads in the toy forum on this board and you will see lots of people new to them and lots of good advice on types and what to do. Good luck.

Hi Bcamus and welcome!

Well, that's a good article.

I'd suggest looking around this site and asking any questions that occur to you.  There's bound to be someone here who has some experience with whatever the situation.

Unlike the article suggests, however, I don't see the problem with going into a Adult Toy store and asking questions.  Trust me when I say that NOTHING you say is going to shock or embarrass those people and everyone I've ever met in one has been extremely nice... and extremely helpful.  They know the products and they know what people enjoy and what they return (or at least complain about...lol).

Just explore and have fun!
