I don't get it...
I don't understand the law which states you can't "sext" (it is called "sexting" after all) until you're 18, although you can have sex at 16. Could someone please explain the law (I'm not really bothered about this "sexting" though)

Makes Sense, However
I guess one of the problems with sexting and minors has a lot to do with the fact that it is basically pornography (mainly and specifically the photos of themselves) and it is an endangerment to themselves.
That being said, that's like saying it's illegal to have sex under 18... would people listen? No. I honestly this it's a little over-reactive because we cannot control the youth in what they do. And parents could always monitor, but kids can always delete... |

These Kids Are Out Of Control IMO
I'm glad that my kids are adults.... They graduated in the mid and late 90's Kids have way to much temptation with the internet and porn and they are learning about sex wat to early... kids are kids... we used to experiment with smoking... maybe playing touchy feely.. these kids are having sex at 12... I'm glad I don't have kids now... IMO

Sexting is a pretty scary thing, because texting has replaced pretty much every other form of communication. The younger teens especially find texting useful as a communication medium because it allows them the same sort of shelter instant messaging was for my generation (mid-twenties). You can take on a different persona and be reckless and "sexy" as you'd like. The fact that there is intervention that extends to arrest is a bit extreme, as a lot of this could be prevented simply by education. As new issues arise, new information needs to be given; it may not be a horrid idea to include a lecture or activities demonstrating the effects of sexting in health classes. It just needs to be brought to their attention that pretty much everything they do is recorded somewhere forever. Even our Google searches are archived, as I found out through this article. Please excuse the religious nature of the site, I stumbled on it through my Google Reader suggestions, regardless of my Fashion-heavy content -_-. I guess even Google isn't perfect!
