To Catch a 'Predator'

I was flipping through an issue of
Rolling Stone that was a few months old, and I came across this article:

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/sto...can_witch_hunt

It verified feelings that I had been having towards the self-riteous MSNBC show lately:

Now, I'm sure that we can all agree that it's wrong for grown men to be seeking out girls in their early teens, but I don't think that those 'predators' are the worst-of-the-worst as the show would have us believe. A true predator is someone who seeks out their victim and gets what they want by deceit, coercion or by force. A young girl may [or may not] lack the capacity to fully understand the ramifications of sexual relations, but with these cases, she is still ultimately giving consent.

The point I'm getting at is that these pedophiles aren't the ones that are ruining the innocence of youth, if anything they are allowed to flourish only because many girl's innocences had already been ruined by more sinister predators. There's no easy decoy/hidden-camera way to catch the truely digusting child molesters, the real monsters (abusive fathers, dirty uncles, opportunistic brothers/cousins/peers, trusted leaders, etc.). Instead, the only easy catch are these socially awkwark, sometimes shy and lonely men who often pose no danger outside of chatrooms.

I've just grown tired of seeing how the show pats itself on the back for the people that they've put away. People that will become jail-hardened and forever socially outcast as a sex-offender. All while the real abuse goes on in secret behind closed doors.

For the "world" most never knew what happens. The media is showing the repetitive behavior of many predators (those seeking to take advantage of one not of age of majority or age of consent).

Pedophiles? I doubt many could handle watching that part on National TV. Pedophiles look just like your neighbor, family, etc. I have a difficult time containing those which cross paths with me. Although many have come in asking for help since they felt an "urge to act" on their impulse; generally they are admitted to psych voluntarily and put on certain psych meds to kill the libido until "proper" help can be given to them.

Never saw the show. Reality is that 20+% of all women have been sexually molested or abused. And getting things set up through a teen chat board by a faking it 40 year old male meets your definition of deceit, coercion or force. The lasting effects on a woman's life are enormous. I have had some older women who had been victims of predators say they would have rather have died than go through life with the burdens of the assault.

If whatever show refer to is raising consciousness of society, I am for it.

Therefore, contact the site & tell them of your interests. As you know they move areas and venues; make your interests known since you have nothing to loose through initiating contact as potential on-site decoy!

I always thought that it would be funny to show up to one of their venues and reveal that I knew it was one of their set-ups all along. Of course I would have to carefully watch what I typed, wording my chats in such a way so as they would be vague enough for open interpretations.

Not that a blooper like that would make it on the air.
