U.S. tracks serious form of syphilis in gay men

Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A particularly serious form of the sexually transmitted bacterial disease syphilis has been detected in gay and bisexual U.S. men infected with the AIDS virus, federal health officials reported on Thursday.

Hopefully they can figure this out. Also, schools need to emphasize safer sex practices for homosexuals and bisexuals as well as heterosexuals. Everyone needs to practice safer sex but sex education programs in schools tend to completely neglect the health concerns of the homosexual and bisexual communities.

"And for men who have sex with men, it means getting tested for HIV and other STDs at least once a year," Peterman added.

I see some slight bias against gay men in this article or it could be my ignorance surely it can spread in straight couples just as much, the problem seems to be that gay men don't see the need for a condom the only form of protection against disease there is

I honestly don't know if there is any bias in the article or not. I'm not that good at checking for bias when it comes to this particular issue.

As for gay men not seeing the need for a condom, this is where education must come in! Schools must educate their pupils that even gays need to use protection and a few educational ad campaigns wouldn't hurt either.

DVDBear has a spectacular aura about
One of the worst areas of education in the gay community is for men who are already HIV+ . . . . they (logically) figure they've already caught the virus, and especially if they're having sex with another pos individual there's no need for condoms anymore. Sadly, it's been proven that's not the case, as this article shows. Also, if I remember correctly they're a variable strains of HIV which you can "double down" if you expose yourself to it. And of course your immune system already has it's hands full, leaving you especially vulnerable to other STDs.

Yep and this is incredibly sad. Gay sex and homosexuality is such a taboo topic in our society that it simply can't be discussed in schools without parents going nuts about it. Try teaching the fact that even homosexuals should use condoms and you'd probably have at least a few parents up in arms about it. We'll never be able to educate our young so long as parents and other higher ups don't wish to see it happen. Therefore, we must show these parents and other higher ups how important it is that they (the young) are educated.

well I've seen the minds of stupid ignorand and not open minded people at work for 14 years I think things will come to a sad end action needs taking as quikly as possible just ask all those stupid ignorant parents to get out a bible and read it counting how many times god COMANDS that two people have sex not to mention this could included incest or adaultry then ask them where they get all their stupid ideas from to bring up their children, it's quite hypocritical that we shy away from sex based on the fact that religeon imposes thins when bible speaks of nothing else !

Well, a lot of people would say that many of what God says in the Bible is in the Old Testament and that we are free from the Old Testament law because Jesus came and freed us from it. I would agree with that. However, your point is noted.

how did he free us how does this amend that two girls willingly comiting incest with their father were not punished and that the sons were the ancestors of 2 great ribes ? did god make a mistake ? wow, jesus never spoke at all about sex no more than did the old testament you have to sit down and examin what you beleive in and where it came from before making it into a rule to pass on or show as reason for your thoughts/actions
