ALL hormonal systems have a 99% THEORETICAL success rate. In real life use, no this high. Failures are counted per 100 sexually active women for one year. With the pill, three would likely become pregnant; on condoms and vaginal spermide, about the same number would become pregnant. I am an NHS employee.

The pill is the preferred treatment for dysmenorhea.

You should be using condoms until you've reached the point that the two of you will likely get married. I agree, condoms don't feel that great compared to nothing, but like the Evil Kitten said, its either wear a hat or use your hand. My wife and I will still use a condom on occassion when the risk of pregnancy is high.

In addition to the condom being for birth control, its also for STD's. I would highly urge the use of condoms until you've both been STD tested and clear and you are not having sexual activity outside the relationship.

The birth control pill should be up to HER. I never pushed my wife one way or the either with the pill, it was her decision, not mine. We decided that we don't want or need any kids right now. We also agreed that we find sex more sensual without a condom and we both are STD free. More importantly, we both agreed that should she get pregnant while on the pill, we can accept the consequences.

A lot of things to think about, but keep a rubber on your dick and leave the pill decision up to her, that is not your call to influence.
