Cumming vs Having an Orgasm

Alright, this has been bugging me. I've becomes irresistably curious, and I'm not really on terms to discuss this with other females I know.

My current girlfriend is my first and only sexual partner, and she makes the distinction between "cumming" and "having an orgasm." "Cumming" is something she'll do frequently, at least a few times a session. It comes about from either fingering, cunnilingus, and intercourse as well. But mainly clitoral stimulation. Occasionally, she'll squirt or gush when this happens.

She "has an Orgasm" maybe a few times a week, and it's a much bigger deal. Comes almost exclusively from intercourse, but it's happened a few times from vaginal fingering (g-spot, I think) combined with clitoral licking. Pretty much, she laughs a lot and can't catch her breath for 10 minutes, then she can't help but fall asleep.

I've scanned this webpage and others, and I don't usually see that distinction made. When I see stories of multiple-orgasms, I can't believe it, because after one or two with my girlfriend, she's out like a light. Is our terminology incorrect? Is "cumming", in her case, actually having an orgasm? Is the "Orgasm" she's reffering to a different kind of Orgasm, ie: G-spot?
If I could get an answer, I'd really appreciate it.

I mean your g/f might describe and have different definitions for things than other people.
I think Brandye said it best one time that women have orgasms, Orgasms, and ORGASMS!!!
They come in different degrees of intensity due to different types of stimulation. Clitoral vs penetration vs both combined vs gspot and so on.

In my own personal dictionary when I say "I'm cumming!" it means I am about to have an orgasm or climax...no matter the intensity... which this is usually the last hurrah... the little mini bursts of pleasure I get during stimulation.. I don't really count as anything... just part of the build up to the main event.

Some might say that "cumming" is when the women is about to ejaculate/orgasm... but since I don't do that.. and "most" of the women don't ejaculate ALL the time.. then cumming for me is the same as orgasm.

This is something to discuss with her since if she is faking it you will never know. She could just be highly aroused or faking, or having an orgasm...

I agree with Sera. Your gf seems to have developed a unique sexual vocabulary thar makes sense for her sexual sensations. Talk with her to find out what she means. For the rest of us women, "cum" equals "orgasm."

Some women are multi-orgasmic and some are not. The main reason some aren't is because they do not know how to achieve it so they stop too soon. Please believe that multiple orgasms are the reality for some women.

She has her own vocabulary - that's fine. Whatever works. But for most of us cumming = orgasm = climax.
