Im a virgin and i want to have sex with my boyfriend .. we were going to try it with him sitting down and me straddling him but that way seems the most painful .. which way should i start off with ? .. does it matter if im on the top or bottom at first?

I think it would not be a horrible position. It should allow you more control in how far you want to go. But don't expect that you'll be able to sit all the way down.

The best position for a female virgin is her on top. She has control. She decides on how deep it goes and how fast it goes as well.
However, missionary won't kill her either. Just remember to go slow either way and have extra lube just in case you need it. I personally learned the hard way about that one.
