Well... my g/f started yesterday on her period... but she says it's been lighter than normal. Now, I know that the pill can cause it to do that, but should we be concerned about anything? I mean, it's here, so I don't think we have to worry. Thanks guys/gals.

My guess is you're worried about pregnancy. No, if she's having her period you don't really need to worry. As everyone else here recommends, I recommend it as well. Don't rely on the pill alone as a contraceptive. Use condoms as well as they not only help decrease the chance of pregnancy, they help prevent the spread of STDs.

you're cool
lighter/shorter periods are often a side effect and benefit of going on the pill. the reason is is that the pill thins the lining of your uterus. all the blood and stuff that collects there during the month is usually doing so to get ready just in case a fertilized egg arrives, it wants to have a suitable environment for the egg to grow. the idea is to thin the lining so that by the slim chance you actually ovulate ( you aren't supposed to on the pill but it can happen) the lining is so thin that the egg can't attach itself and it gets passed out during your period. im pretty sure thats how i understood my doc explain, anyone add or correct me if im wrong

SI think that thats what one of hormones in pills does. IN combination pills, what also happns from what I understand is that hormones recreate like a pregnancy condition, that eggs don't get produced. Also lining of musuc around cervix supposed to get thinker and stop sperm from entering. Sorry, can't figure out how to explain better at this very moment.

yeah thats true little fury the mucous plug at the cervix also gets thicker so sperm can't get thru.
the hormone that makes the body think its pregnant is so that it doesn't ovulate we are born w/ the eggs we have we don't make them. not like guys make sperm.
