hello
aaaages ago now, whilst having sex, the condom broke, simple. not sure whether it was before/during/after i came, but it was very close to it. we did take precautions after, and it was a good 5 months ago, so nothing became of it, thankfully. it was brand new, and wasn't broken until the very end! so i guess the question here is.. why do they split? |

Just make sure it is the proper type of lube. Petroleum-based lubes, like Vaseline, will cause the latex to degrade. Alway make sure it is a water-based lube and says its okay for use with condoms.

Condom "failure" while very uncommon, usually happens because of a few things:
1) Improper use: Many guys in the rush to get to the act, can tear open the condom and in the process nick the end of the condom - especially some of the ones that are wrapped in foil. In the dark it's not easy to see what your'e doing, but they're so cheap, it dosn't hurt to practice. Next, putting it on incorrectly or damaging it when putting it on. From her fingernail to jewelry, it only takes a nick to cause a malfunction in the condom. Oh, one more thing, read the directions on how to apply the condom, so many guys pull it too tight over the head so it's snug....leave a good inch of condom at the end..this will also help keep the condom from being pulled too tighly across your penis 2) Lubrication: As oberon said, there are some forms of lube that will definatly cause the condom to break! READ THE LABEL of your condom carefully, and if you do use lube, make sure it's the right kind. Also, it's importtant to put a dab of lube on your cock before you put it on..the lube on the inside helps add to the feeling, and keeps the condom from "chaffing" and being streatched. 3) Storage: Ok, we all know about the condom in the wallet or in the glove compartment of the car. Thats great for TV and movies, but NOT good for the condom. Read the box carefully for storage instructions. Excessive heat and cold WILL cause damage to both the condom pacakage and of course, the condom itself. Usually they are best stored in a cool, dry place (nightstand or medicine cabinet). If you THINK yo're gonna get lucky, take one with you before you leave..don't keep a condom in your wallet or store them anywhere they will be exposed to wide ranges of heat or cold Hope t his helps!
