So, some girlfriends and I were on the topic of protection during sex and whatnot. She began to tell us that she always has sex w/o a condom for up to 2 weeks following her period. She 'knew for a fact' that you CANNOT GET PREGNANT during this time. There's no egg, and w/o an egg you cant get pregant. She's been doing this for a while now. and believes that thats something 'no one ever told us'. And of course this got me thinking. I know about ovulation and egg releasing and what not, but this sort of made sense when she said it. she could be miswording and/or i could've misheard. I know someone has a perfectly good explanation for this. Be my guest.
thanks.

Never heard of this

Ok yea THAT makes more sense. I knew there was something weird about that. Either she's confused or she made herself unclear. who knows. but thanks for that.
Aren't you actually most fertile after your period? Most girls ovulate like 9 to 16 days or so into their cycle. You can actually ovulate while on your period if you have a short cycle.
You can really get pregnant at any time, it just depends on when you ovulate and how long that egg stays there in your body before it moves.
If I were going to take bets, I'd say that the worst time to have sex would be the week or two weeks after you finish your period.
I would say the "best" time to do it would be right before your period as logically, your ovulation time is over and the egg has passed and is getting ready to be released as your period. But I will again say that you can get pregnant at any time and anything is possible.
This site here might explain it a little better than me.
