As for relaxing, I have two suggestions. DO NOT engage in anal play until your wife is very highly aroused for two reasons. First her inhibitions will be less; second, all those sensitive nerve endings around the anus only turn on and become reactive when a person is.

You shouldn't need to nor should you jam something in as far as you can. If the receiver is sufficiently aroused and relaxed, then simple pressure should allow passage. The rectum is not straight, and made of extremely thin, delicate tissue not designed for thrusting. If there is only lube on you, and not inside of her, then most will come off of you on the outside and more will rub off the tip just inside. Combine that with jamming it in, and it's highly likely that you will tear(possibly severely and permanently) her rectal tissue and leave her with pain and embarrassing problems the rest of her life.
