Mods Organizing Blow-job Techniques 101

Given that it would be a real PITA to do, would it be possible to clean up and lock the "Blow-job Techniques 101" thread? For me personally I don't have hours and hours to spend on line. It took me weeks of reading a page or two a night to read the 40 pages of posts in the thread. I feel I received some great information, but it took forever to get through all the extraneous posts. But I didn't want to miss out on any good information so I read the whole thing.

IMHO this site is about passing on information. Overall I think that this site does an excellent job doing so. Asking reasonable questions is great. But to me, if a thread is going to be a sticky then I'd think that the information contained in that thread should be specific information pertaining to the title of the subject. Especially for a new member, the most important information for that subject is easily accessible. Then if a new member has a question that they felt was not answered in the sticky thread, they can start a new thread for their specific question. I've seen several times where moderators have suggested that new members read through sticky topics before posting questions, so the same questions don't get posted over and over again.

Since I didn't keep notes, I'm not sure, but it seemed like there where a couple of questions that came up several times through out the 40 pages of the thread. My guess is that the member with a question didn't want to read 10, 20, or even 30 pages of posts to see if their question or issue was in the sticky post. So they just posted the question at the end of the thread. Even if that same question had already been asked and answered several pages back. I'd think that if a moderator found a question that wasn't answered in the thread, the new information could be added to the sticky post by the moderator. But members adding more and more onto the sticky thread seems to be counter productive to my understanding of why a thread became a sticky in the first place.

As I recall that there were several times that members bantered back and forth in the thread. That is fine, at least to me, in a standard thread. But in one instance, I recall two members chatting back and forth, without moving the thread topic forward, wasted over a page of an already unwieldy sticky thread, doesn't seem like a great way to get this important information to members.

Again, I think that this is a very cool site and I've gotten some great information here. I just wanted to express some issues that I ran into here as a new member. Thank you for your time.

They have plenty to do just keeping the place functioning and cleaned up from trolls. Perhaps you should contact one and offer assistance.

I'd be willing to do it. I'm not really sure whom to contact.

You couldn't lock the thread because it will only lead to more people posting "blowjob" threads. Yes its dumb when members go off into 1 page rants of "check your pm" "oh lol that's funny" "I know right". But the mods already take care of the big issues. Such as the countless number of new members who spam the site. Try bookmarking the "important" pages. It saves a lot of time.

I would be willing to be that most newbs (thank you scott for being an exception), rather than simply not wanting to read several pages:

*aren't observant enough to realize there are that many and simply post a reply to the opening post (I did that one myself when I was a newb)

or

*don't read anything at all and just start a thread.

Which have got to be the two most common actions of newbs. You'd be surprised to see the number of times DancingDoc2 has posted his intro that urges people to read the Index. I think by now he keeps it in a document somewhere on his computer so he can simply cut and paste. You'd also be surprised the number of times a senior member has said to a newb "do a search, there are TONS of threads on this already".

just pay attention to what the following people say:

DancingDoc2
Brandye
Evilevilkitten
RedRoses
Ducy

and any other big post count people. They pass on all the info needed in a way you can understand. Especially DD2, he goes above and beyong (not that the others don't, but doc just goes the whole 10 yards)

As moderators we do not do enough to keep a discussion thread on point. There is also an unwritten rule that replies are not deleted unless offensive. Perhaps I'll begin looking at content more closely and if replies are just chit-chat, delete them, if the reply does not contribute.

We also frown on having an ongoing discussion "hijacked" and when this happens, I for one try to separate the new topic from the existing one.

The major reason threads become unwieldy is because these are open forums in which everyone interested can add a comment. The disadvantage is when a few people just blurt out nonsense seemingly for the purpose of being "heard" as we used to say. Do we delete these or do we let them stay?

Nearly every Sticky Post has specific information pertaining to the title on the first page, and usually the opening post. With few exceptions it is unnecessary to read beyond the first four pages. Beyond these opening pages we would be less than inviting if we closed the thread keeping others from participating, with worthwhile information or--not. We must draw a fine line between being open and inviting, v.s. being standoffish with lots of posting rules.

ModIII, we all appreciate how hard you and the other two Mods work just to keep the site running smoothly and as troll-free and spam-free as humanly possible. I personally don't think it necessary that you become the germane-ness police too. I'm assuming you have lives which you'd like to attend to beyond the site.

I've recently been made a mod of another, unrelated forum of which I'm a member. The Admin/Creator specifically requests that we moderate with as light a hand as possible. Basically all we actually delete is obvious spam. Sometimes we do a little merging or splitting of threads, but we don't read every single post to be sure it's "worthy" of being left up. Who wants to, ya know?

i find that the big posters mentioned above often go through those stickies and if you have a blowjob question and post it in there it can be answered, so locking it would be a poor choice, also usually the first few pages on those stickies is a good amount of relevant information and could be cutting down on extra posts quite a bit. also i sort of like that the mods don't take a position in posts. only intervening if someone gets vulgar or is spamming, it makes it feel like more of an open community where information isn't being hidden

Edit: the poster above me said it best

Weasel, he is a she and quite a nice one, too!

Thanks ModIII but it's usually no skin off my nose. It's not like my handle conveys gender. 2/3 of the site calls me by the wrong initials anyway, so who cares? Call me whatever you like, just don't call me late for sex....or supper. :D

Ah, I see. lnt instead of Int. Will remember it!
And even though you say not to care about the mistake: sorry about that :)

hehehehehe well said but why all couple love to having sex only, I think sex is important but first love is more important than sex, take care your partners its called love !
