I agree.
A lot of people have married cousins including one famous president and in some societies this is not the eyebrow raiser it may be here. Incest is a whole 'nother matter. What you and your cousin are up to is NOT incest especially if she is not a first cousin; even so, "incest" is generally considered to be between a parent and child.

.... or between birth siblings.
In some cultures the incest taboo is limited to those who live in the same household; in some, entire clans or ancestral groupings are included. In modern countries there is even variation among those which include first cousins and some that do not. There was quite a discussion here of incest a year or so ago. Do a search.

And I was a little freaked when my late cousins husband asked me to play mother of the groom for their two son's weddings this summer. Now I have known this guy since I was 4, and his wife my 1st cousin past 3 years ago. Even though we do not share any blood, he is so much my family......
I also don't get the she/he dated one brother/sister then the other brother/sister thing either. |

Currently, I would think it may be odd unless the spouse is deceased. Why: I can see why one might be attracted to similar qualities & belonging to the same family especially if children are in the equation. Never married? To me? Odd. Honestly the present times both might be really strange but the first, I can understand yet it has to be uncomfortable.

I think that was more like the brother married the widow, to keep the family intact. But I know someone who's dad married his mom's bestfriend after his mom past away, I think I wrote about that before. His mom actually told his dad to marry this woman before she died.
It is odd how much life and issues have changed. My dad, thank god, came home from WWII to marry my mom and then have us. I so could not of seen her married to his twin brother. They didn't look like they were even related, yet were twins. Had totally different personalities. |

I don’t think that incest is as big of a deal if it is between siblings of the same gender. There is a certain level of sexual contact that could be construed as normal development. In young teen years it seems rather normal for to siblings to experiment with things like masturbation. Mutual masturbation is a form of manual sex so that could be considered as incest. Even oral sex could still be considered to be on that continuum of “normal” sexual behavior. I never had a brother so I don’t know from first hand experience, it is just the way it seems to me.
