Well, when that's happened to me it certainly wasn't what I expected at the time!
Once or twice I have tried abstaining for long periods of time. Its really only been out of curiosity, firstly to see what my willpower is like, then to see how long I can last. My record is around 8 weeks. Willpower is mainly a problem at the start. I just get so incredibly horny, and the temptation to release the tension just becomes so overwhelming that I've usually given in to it. If you don't succumb, though, I've noticed that you get to a point where the horniness disappears. Its as if the body adapts to the situation, and just shuts down the libido. I also notice a feeling of tightness around the testicles, which I guess is due to the build up of semen. In fact, at this point I get a feeling of 'blue balls' just from merely getting an erection. When I do finally release it at this stage, though, the feeling of orgasm is actually less intense than normal. It is more like a 'flushing of the pipes' really. However, this seems to revitalise the libido, and normal horniness returns very quickly soon after! I suspect that this is not really a very healthy thing to do, and its only something I've done out of curiosity a few times. I think its much better, and healthier, to respond to the needs of the body and release it when you feel the need. Exercise is important to keep things in good working order!

I love to bring myself to the point of orgasm and then slowing down to control so that my cum just rolls out of the end of my dick. Amazing feeling without the orgasm. Then, I get to do it all over again with the orgasm. Greatness!

Although I have not experienced it for myself, it is possible for a man to learn how to orgasm without ejaculating. I believe the technique was perfected and is widely practiced by Taoists.
Annoyingly enough, according to principals of Chinese medicine, a woman's orgasm is energy-giving whereas a man's (with ejaculation) is energy-depleting and for health reasons should not be enjoyed regularly. The Taoists believe that a man can learn to become multi-orgasmic and then experience the health giving properties from retaining his seminal fluid. I have a book about it called The Multi-Orgasmic Man by Chia and Arava. It sounded very exciting until I came to the conclusion that the dry orgasm they refer to is not at all the same as the one I am used to. I also decided that I absolutely love ejaculating and thought I would hold-off on teaching myself their techniques for a little while longer. It's all very interesting, however.

To me it depends on why you didn't ejaculate. One time I had a retro ejaculation and it sucked all the build up no release. Was not good at all. One time as well I have had an orgasm or two before ejaculating. That is a cool feeling. Feels real good, cuz you get the orgasm, then another and the cum. Oh yeah!

I'm not a guy, but my bf once had the retro thing happen, and I could tell how badly it disappointed him. He's said to me before how amazing that feeling of the fluid traveling and releasing is. But there are things you can do if retro happens. We waited a little bit for his system to 'regroup' so to speak, and then I finished him in a different way, and it went without a hitch. As disappointed as he was, I felt bad making him wait for it, but I also knew we needed to do so if it was going to be productive. The other key there is figuring out what little thing it is that causes that, and avoiding it if undesirable.
