Since i don't live in the U.S. i realy don't care too much about any one being the president. But i realy hate the way Bush has been running the U.S. lately, so any one but him will be ok for me.

After reading Oberon's last post i think i'm right.

demonbuttercup is a jewel in the rough
another cool website to check out is
PunkVoter.com
it has lots of information about Bush.
i mean what other president has actually had a cd come out called Rock Against Bush..lol.

here's some reasons

3. Responsible for and unemployment rate of 6%. There are now 9 million people
out of work in America-3.3 million more than when Bush took office.

4. He cut health care benefits for veterans.

5. Bush Jr. Deserted his unit during vietnam and was reportadely AWOL for over a
year from his assigned unit: The Texas Air National Gaurd, or as its referred to
by other military outfits, "The Champagne Division".

6. Despite a 13% unemployment rate among those aged 16-24, Bush Jr. Proposed to
eliminate youth oppertunity grants-A program provides job training to the
nations youth. A $225M program in 2002 is now being done away with so Bush can
have more money for Iraq.

7. He cut funding for 375,000 low income college students and reduced pell grant
amounts to such a severe degree that it effectively caused 84,000 students to no
longer be eligible for pell grants. Pell amounts have been overall reduced for
1.5 million students... its safe to say that the Bush daughters aren't eligible
for financial aid, so this won't affect the opulent lives of anyone Bush Jr. may
know.

8. Withdrew from the international criminal court.

9. First president in U.S history to refuse United Nations election inspectors
(during the US 2002 elections)

10. All-time U.S. (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign

11. The Bush administration had twice as many FBI agents fighting the drug war

wasting thier valuable time assigned to the war on drugs.

12. His proposed "free trade" agreements would result in the loss of U.S. jobs
to foreign markets and the exploitation of third world workers.

13. John Ashcroft

14. He has taken 11 official executive actions to undermine reproductive
rights...how long will it be before a woman is stripped of her right to choose?

15. Failed to fulfill his pledge to get Osama Bin Laden "dead or alive".

16. Wasted federal resources on a PR trip to Baghdad where he staged a
Thanksgiving meal at 6am with troops that were screened based on thier political
affiliation. And the Turkey? It was a prop.

17. His refusal to fire-or even repremand-Lt. General Jerry "our God is bigger
than their God" Boykin. Perhaps it's because Boykin said of the president,
"George Bush was not elected by a majority of voters in the United States. He
was appointed by God. He's in the white house because God put him there."

18. After sending troops off to fight in an unjust unprovoked war, he still has
yet to attend any soldiers' funerals.

19. His shameless nepotism for the rich and powerful. Elizabeth Cheney (daughter
of ol' Dick) Got hooked up with a cool gig at the state department where she was
in charge of the $129 million middle east partnership inititive and then was
moved to daddy and uncle dubya's campaign payroll.

20. He dropped his dog on its head.

i agree he wastes money on a lot of "wars" that can't be won. he even said himself that we can't win the war on terrorism... just be more aware and try to protect ourselves. and the war on drugs is a farce as well.

Ah, yes, an "independent" poll turns into a Bush-bashing thread. I find it interesting that Kerry supporters seem to spend most of their time studying Bush!

Personally, I think Kerry getting elected to the Presidency would be one of the worst things to happen to this country in a long time (politically), but we've survived some pretty bad Presidents in the past - both Democrat and Republican. So I'm not going to suggest we'll end up comparable to Nazi Germany or in concentration camps if he does get elected. That would be, IMHO, melodramatic and insult to this country.

We're becoming a "one issue" voting population in which many people select their candidate based on the one cause that's important to them. That, IMHO, is greedy and selfish, or at least lazy. We ought to be looking at ALL the issues and considering the "greater good" for the majority of people.

That's what Zen Miller did; I think listening to his speech should be required of every Kerry Supporter. Here we have a Democrat who's recognized the issues and problems and recognizes that he has to do what's right; even if it means going against his cause (party). Of course the unmeasured response to it from Kerry Supporters is to attack him and basically call him "stupid."

Who we support is not a measure of our intelligence. How we decide who to support is.

Having said that, I now join the untold many who are not going to be drawn into this pointless argument. We're not going to write songs and release CD's... we're not going to work on "Kerry Jokes"... We are simply going to go quietly to the polls and vote to re-elect the President who has served us well.

One of the reasons we like and respect him is that he's not just a polished image... he allows us to see his foibles and mistakes. We're not going to support someone who's busy trying to be who and what he thinks we want him to be. We'll take some one who's more concerned with solving problems and standing strong than what the press and the world thinks of him.

Oh please, don't even start that.

This is a political thread. You cannot have one of these without bashing of either side. It is impossible.

Bush supporters can't do nothing but study everything that Kerry has done wrong so don't even try to pull the bullcrap of how we spend most of our time studying Bush when you do the same god damn thing.
I guarantee you that I can go to atleast 2 other boards that I visit and have the whole "who will you vote for" thing turn into Kerry bashing.
And then there's another board that can have a civil political conversation, which doesn't happen very often, and half the people on there can't even vote.

And, there was no argument in this thread.
People were stating their sides. People were bringing up issues to show things. People were saying who they would vote for and why. That's not an argument. That's a simple explination backing up your vote. And if one of the reasons people are gonna vote for Kerry is because they think Bush is stupid, then fine, let them. If you think this country will suck under Kerry, fine. Vote for Bush.
Vote for whoever the hell you want to. I really don't care and it's not gonna make me a bunch of difference. If I have to live with Bush another 4 years, I will. If not, I won't.

i agree that you can't say the Bush campaign/supporters haven't bashed Kerry.
who is it thats not focusing on the issues?
who is it thats bringing up a war that is over 30 yrs old and nit-picking every little thing Kerry did in Vietnam. all i have to say is, hell at least he went!
he might have hurt himself just so he could leave, but hell id be a scared kid too over there. at least he tried.

Senator Mccain was on the daily show and he said the same thing, americans aren't focusing on the issues and the war we are in now, just the war we can't do anything about.

and i saw that Zen Miller's speech, that guy was going nuts. yelling and so on. then i saw him being interviewed by that guy from Hardballs? Crossballs? lol i can't remember. anyways, he was like "do you know what a metafer is? i wish we still lived in the age when i could challenge you to a duel" lol
craziness. I'm originally from AL so i can say he's a crazy southerner.

Going back to John McCain. I think he should've been picked to run for president. He's the only one who seems to actually have his head on his shoulders and the countries best interest in mind.
but he's not so sometimes you just have to take the lesser of two evils. lol

If my memory serves me correctly, it was the opening post to this topic that started the "bush bashing" by refering to him as "the shrub". But maybe I'm just crazy.

And as far as all the stuff posted about Bush, well I'm sure there are things that are equally damaging about Kerry. I also think that things can be read many different ways to suit a particular parties interests. Like I said, I'm pretty cynical when it comes to politics.

Since the posting referencing "one issue voters" also referenced Nazi Germany, I suppose most of that was directed at me. *That it missed it's mark is not surprising.

Yes, it is true that I am gay. *Yes, I find the current presidential office holder's views on gay marriage deplorable. *But then I find so much about him deplorable. *Maybe some people see nothing wrong with discrimination as long as it isn't directed toward them. *Some people rarely bother to worry about injustice that doesn't affect them personally. *

It is, however, hardly the only reason I detest "The Shrub". *Let's see...

*He lied about his reasons for invading Iraq. *He said there were WMD and an Al-Qaeda connection- both of which have been proven untrue. *Clinton lied about getting a bj and the Republicans had a fit and impeached him. *Shouldn't there be a worse punishment for lying and getting people killed? *979 dead American soldiers to date... all based on a lie.

*He has failed and continues to fail at any reasonable institution of the suggestions by the 9/11 Commission. *We are now on something like day 50 since the suggestions have been made... with nothing to show for it.

*He has driven the economy in the the ground with 1.3 MILLION more people living below the poverty level- with 800,000 new children under eighteen living in poverty.

*He now has 1.4 MILLION more people WITHOUT health insurance. *(Interestingly enough, when confronted with these numbers on CNN a Republican spokesperson said, "Oh, those figures don't mean anything. *Those Americans without health insurance just don't want to pay for it." * ) A particularly sore subject with me as my mother has Multiple Sclerosis and lost her job, and is now unable to GET insurance even if she could afford the outrageous rates.

*Unemployment has been rampant under his tender care. *And the few jobs he has created, pay half of those that people have lost under his administration.

So I'd hardly call my stance on this subject a "one issue" one. *I also don't apologize ONE BIT for the "bashing". *It's amazing to me, that just like a schoolyard bully, the Republicans have no problem with bashing until someone starts on them. *One of my major complaints about the Democrats is that they haven't been doing ENOUGH to show what an incompetent leader Dubya is. *Trust me, the Republicans have no such scruples- these are NOT nice people. *They will lie, cheat and steal (re: the 2000 election). *

I, too, intend to go to the polls, but I don't intend to do so quietly. *I want as many people as possible to know exactly who I'm voting for and WHY.

bush is a lying, cheating, unintellegent, murderer.
he was on vacation 42 percent of his presidency, he did not read the patriot act, he rigged the election with a lil help from his friends/relatives jeb bush (brother, florida governor) and john ellis (cousin, fox news). go to www.michaelmoore.com no one can say that he is lying because his facts HAVE been backed up by TWO lawyers, he is telling the truth, he has proof, he has articles, and he is an intelligent man, (im saying michael moore, NOT BUSH!)
bush also started the war in iraq FOR NO REASON. sep 11 had NOTHING to do with iraq, he killed as high as 37,000 innocent people, he wussed out of his time in the army, him and his friend james r bath were gone for a year, therefore they didnt have to serve, and his daddy PAID his way into yale, bush was a c- student. bush also doesnt believe in abortions, i dont understand how women cant kill a couple of cells in their body, when people kill MILLIONS of cells EVERYDAY and he is bombing innocent people. its not fair. bush is ALSO homophobic and racist, he does not believe in gay rights, which is stupid because everyone is EQUAL, and he is racist because he and his brother SPECIFICALLY targeted african americans while they were rigging the election

i am very politically active i know my stuff, please read this post and take it into consideration.
