My point is that it just isn't as insane as you make it out to be Saint. The best thing about that entire paragraph was the part about " if you buy it you are supporting terrorism." I love adding that to random things I say, it makes them funnier :O EDIT: I think maybe saint was being sarcastic? Anyhow, my statement stands still. On another note, if you use smoke regularly, then yeah, you will probably be a bit slower then usual and probably not on top of things, that's about it. It doesn't ruin lives if you have enough self discipline to know when to quit. It's not addictive, but it is a users choice when they want to stop, they can. If they don't want to, not worth your time. They are hopelessly retarded and probably have no common sense. (no offense to anyone, just my opinion) Last edited by Dbondjuk; 03-11-2009 at 07:28 PM.. |

Sorry to move off topic some but I believe this applies to others as well so it's not just a pm. I see EEK already touched on the topic of how it can affect a professional career and I would just like to expand on it.
Your personal views on the effects of marijuana or other drugs, or even whether or not you consider it a drug, and whether they should or shouldn't be illegal DOES NOT MATTER TO THE LAW. Mr. Saint especially, you damn well better get rid of whatever 'filter' you're looking through, because the vast majority of the field you are pursuing does not tolerate proximity much less participation. Even if it is only a misdemeanor in California, it doesn't mean people in other parts of the country will brush it aside and not apply their judgment to a record. Most scientific developmental money comes from the government. Almost all of that government money is given with a clause that those with drug convictions are not eligible. The same applies for most academic scholarships. Lots of companies won't hire those with drug records. Lots of companies that would - CAN'T!! - due to security clearances required just to drive through the company gate even if your specific job doesn't require one and those security clearances are given by the.....government. See the pattern here? All of those drawbacks aren't even including the fact that even if you do get a job where most people tolerate it, all it takes is ONE person who wants what you have, to turn you in to the wrong person, and you're out the door. Never underestimate what people are willing to do in workplace politics to get ahead. Exposing yourself to all of these risks is extremely irresponsible and stupid. Given those consequences - The selfish person would be the one wanting to try it just for the sake of trying it - at the expense of the all of the above risks towards his/her future - and since they're married - THEIR futures. |

maybe if she tries it she will be as allergic as i was to the stuff! while everyone around me was crowing about what fun they were having, i was dry heaving and hyperventillating had sever chest pains and was covered in hives. a few years later my exhusband told me that i had just 'gotten ahold of a bad batch' and convinced me to give it another try. with the same results. all in all he tried several different 'strains' of the stuff and i never found one that did not make me mortally ill. after about four months of his futile attempts to make me 'see what fun' it supposedly was, i announced his experiments were over and i never went near the stuff again.
a few family members smoke marijuana. whenever i have visited their homes after they have smoked it inside, i immediately become sick. |
