OK. The vagina is about forty cells thick and quite absorbent. Of the typical tablespoonful that is ejaculated, the vaginal walls absorb about half and the other half drips out. In the rectum, the walls are one cell thick and not very absorbent. The intestinal tissue at that point is no longer absorbing nutrients; it is intended to contain the stuff until the next bowel movement.
Most of the semen injected into the rectum drips out very quickly and is certainly cleaned out by the next bowel movement. Now, consider where it drains to. The vaginal entrance is less than two centimeters away and vigorous sperm easily make that trip and, sometimes, on up to the uterus and fallopian tubes. I diagnosed one pregnancy in a young woman with a perfectly intact hymen.
But, EEK says, and I emphasize, use condoms with anal sex. They reduce the chance of pregnancy and reduce urethritis and prostatitis in the man. The worst infection I have ever seen in a male genito-urinary system was from unprotected anal sex.
