heated oil & lotion
My wife and I enjoy oil and lotion sometimes during sex....but the problem is that it kills the fun if it is too cold before applied.
What's the easiest way to warm up oils and lotions? I was thinking of the microwave, but is that a good idea or not? Any other good ideas? |

The microwave will lead to burns. Even if left in for only a few seconds, the microwave heats things unevenly and parts can burn you while the other parts are still cold. Just make a double boiler. Keep a container of warm water near the bed, and keep the lubes inside of them. *Maybe* a small crock pot/candle warmer kept on LOW LOW LOW.
Also you can simply spread them over your hands and rub them together lightly. The thinner the layer spread over your hand, the more surface area in contact and the faster they'll heat. |

Place the container in warm water, as sera suggests. Or if it is very spur of the moment spontaneous oil use apply it to your hands and rub them together as Doc and funinthesun suggest. I have had success with both. Keep in mind that warm hands are just as important as warm oil.
You might want to visit a shop that sells massage equipment. Maybe you can buy a warmer there. |

Thanks for the tips!
I knew about warming by rubbing in my hands and it does work fine, but sometimes I like to really cover her in oil, LOL. I guess putting the container in a pot of warm water is best...I just hate to spoil a "mood" warming water. I tried a baby bottle warmer, but it seemed too weak to heat the oil and lotion. |

A candle warmer(popular in college dorms since most don't allow flames) connected to a dimmer switch would probably work. It's like a mini crock pot that melts scented candles. Attaching a dimmer switch and turning down the power going to it will lower it to a safe level.

There are some things that require preparation beforehand. This is one of them. |
