Communication cut-off?
Have you ever had a total communication cut-off forcefully because you cannot call them? My girlfriend is out of the country for two weeks; she left last Friday morning. The first two days were rough for me, but as the days progress, I'm seeing that I would like to hear from her, but wouldn't die if I didn't. For one year and a half year we've talked everyday and every night, so this would be the first time ever to have cut off communication. Is there a possibility one of us could have diminishing feelings over this kind of time period (Not saying that I am)?
Sorry for the dumb topics sometimes, I just don't know where else to look for such truthful answers ![]() |

And... once again... the need for a special area about long distance relationships rears its head! This is far from a "dumb" topic!
It's unfortunate that you and your gf weren't able to come up with a way to stay in touch while she's out of the country... But what you are describing may not be so tragic and there's no particular reason to assume the negative. Relationships grow and mature... and while we will always need each other, at some point we gain perspective because we've learned to trust each other and to trust the relationship. It's also important to remember that humans are resilent and have great ability... you've been faced with an absence and you are almost unconciously coping with it... were it not for that, we'd never recover from the death of a loved one (horrible comparison, but makes the point). Relax. Make some plans for when she gets back.
