I believe your fiance is handling it in an immature fashion as doc pointed out. But to be honest, I think it is a lack of communication on his part. It sounds like he wanted a threesome to happen but didnt know how to mention it to you. When you said that you wanted to try it, not only did it get his hopes set on "his" fantasy coming true, but it helped relieved the pressure he felt on trying to tell you.

At so early a stage in the game of romance the two of them should be working on each other and not involving a third. It takes time to work out the kinks. Lastly, if they are getting married, then while they can certainly have sex for sex sake, the activity is usually the end of a demonstration for the love they express having for each other. If they get this down and solid then maybe in the distant future they can enjoy sex with a third for the sake of pleasure. Otherwise, keep it as a fantasy.
