I've seen Dr Drew on the MTV-show Teen Mom. He seems like a person that is able to show empathy and make the girls feel free to speak. He seems to show genuine concern. His questions seem rather subjective and not open once in a while. He seems to really know his field of expertise, looking at his CV.

If so... In this fragment it's a typical case of overdoing. A little humor makes a show more laid-back, too much interferes with the purpose. Cause the kid is hardly able to ask his question. And the doc is hardly able to speak out the advice without interruption. I'd probably won't call a show when there's a risk of a situation like this...

That show's still on? I haven't heard it since high school when it started. Adam Carolla was a comedian who moved on to Comedy Central with The Man Show. That clip Rose found was where he'd get frustrated with multiple calls in a row from teens who wouldn't answer questions, would just argue their points not really wanting help but validation, or rambling and was jokingly referencing typical American football coach motivational speechs to get things moving.

I have no idea what it's like these days, but for a long time it was on the only non-religious radio station on my drives home from practice(quite the contrast between the 3 available stations, heh) so heard it quite often. Sometimes it would be very serious with quality discussions, other times not so much. They always included a celebrity guest, so the quality of responses ran the gamut.
