My girlfriend and I have never had intercourse. We have invloved in mutual masturbation and oral sex. Now that we are getting married and will get into other sexual acts as well, I had a few questions:
1) My girlfriend is worried about first-time pain and wants me to use a lube for insertion. As we plan to use condom for contraception what would be the ideal kind of lube to use?
2) My foreskin does not retract when I masturbate myself. Could I expect it to retract normally when I get into the act of intercourse or do you think it is a condition that needs medical intervention?

Looking for a few first time tips

To answer your first question...your fiancee and you should use both a spermicide and condom, two separate products. Lubes? You need to read through some posts.
Question two; there is a post on how to retract your foreskin daily--please search through the site and read the informational posts...they will answer your questions and provide you with more.

If your foreskin does not retract while manually stimulating yourself, it is unlikely that the gentler stroking done by the vagina will retract it. This can be a real hygiene issue. You may want to discuss this with your doctor. It is generally easily fixed. He will lay out alternatives for you.
I recommend vaginal jelly which is both water-based lube and spermicide in her whenever a couple is using condoms. Using the two in combination gives about the same protection as her using the pill. A full applicator goes in her and, for the first time, a bit smeared around the entrance.
Latex condoms are generally unaffected by most lubricants. Anything readily available will do. Please be aware that while condoms will work for birth control, that is not their main function. Their main role is preventing the transmission of disease. But, as Brandye points out, they can be used but please also use another form of protection with them.
A non-retracting foreskin is a big issue. See your doctor.
Hi, thank you all for your advices.
Sera: I mentioned lube as my fiancee is a bit concerned about first-time pain and she wants me to use extra lubrication the first few times.
All: Although my foreskin does not normally retract while masturbating, it had retracted in the past when my girlfriend had masturbated me (we have been living in different cities for the last couple of years and hence we have not involved in mutual masturbation for quite sometime). Do you still think it's a huge problem or is it that the way I masturbate is not perfect?

If you are going to get married generally before you both get check ups, teeth cleaned, etc. Mention it to the doc. It's pretty difficult to tell the degree you are talking about over the Internet. Therefore, just make a quick appointment and let a pro look.
When you shower, can you retract the foreskin fully to properly wash? Or is it not fully going back or does it cause discomfort when you attempt to do so?
Frankly speaking I am not very aware of the technique of retracting the foreskin and have never tried it myself as I am scared I might cause injury to my penis or it might hurt. Please advise how to do it.

Sera: Thanks a lot for the link; I learnt a few things I was not aware of. However, it seems it is not really abnormal that foreskin does not retract and one can have intercourse or masturbate without retracting the foreskin - it is rather a matter of individual preference. Am I right in my interpretation?

The amount of skin which covers the glans seems to be personal preference if it is sufficient or not for them. Not long ago a gentleman posted about putting a condom on; from his description he has too much foreskin. Mainly, the the answer lies with you. If it's sufficient or not.
Seriously thought you should have a full head to toe exam prior to marriage. If that's not for a bit; make an appointment and get it checked by a doc.
And people wonder why I had my son circumcized.

I don't think its the actual foreskin that causes problems EEK, its the lack of education and discipline of the boy/man. My hon is uncut, but his foreskin retracts properly and slides back and forth really easily. I kinda like it, its fun when I'm giving oral and when we do mutual masturbation, it gives me something to manipulate without a fear of injuring him. :o He also is just as hygienic as a cut man, and he can use a condom with no problem. So I'm thinking its not the skins fault its the owners :p.
CW:
The amount of foreskin present in uncut men varies man to man. There are some men who when erect you cannot tell they are not cut. There are others where excess becomes an issue.
One big issue in uncut men; parental failure to properly cleanse their little boys leading to infections in babies & later on as they wash themselves; teaching proper hygiene. Many parents fail to do and to teach such hygiene needs.
Retrospectively; after all the debate on the topic, I would not want to leave it to a 13+ year old to make the choice secondary to the pain & complications of the surgery at older ages.
I honestly never thought much about it until reading on this site about those who wished they were not cut at birth since geographically, here, it's just done. I have seen probably a handful of men who were not, each were elderly & had some sort of infection.
Cw..dear..I know this...please.
But if you're cut, it is just another set of issues you DON'T have to deal with.
