The hymen is a very flexible covering at the opening of the vagina, with a hole just about small enough to let a tampon through. It is very thin, and if a girl does a lot of sport, especially horseriding, then it can become broken before intercorse.

Actually, the hole (or holes) is too small to let a tampon through. This is one of the reasons women often lose their hymens before having sex.

how would u know if ur hymen broke? u say sports.. well i do gymnastics and use tampons.. (super size sum,times) but never have had sex, been fingered a lot... and i started to bleed the last time i was fingered, as i posted somewhere else on the board.. but he was doing it really hard when he was fingering.. possible my hymen broke??, and do u think sex will hurt me?

google.. there's no telling if it will hurt when you have sex. some girls do, some don't. none of us can give you an answer.
