A little Gross..but has to be resolved

Ok. So heres the deal. Sometimes I have a problem with smelling bad in my vaginal area. I've made sure I keep myself clean and I saw my docter he said there was nothing wrong and i'm clean. I notice that it corrilates with my menstrual cycle. But somtimes it doesnt and its real bad. i do take birth control and sometimes i take medications but i dont think thats it. I think i heard that it could be things that you eat but im just not sure.

Anyways, i was just wondering if anybody could enlighten me on what other possiable reasons I could be having this problem and if you have any suggestions that would help?

just wash yourself and you should be ok. but what you eat sometimes make your vag smell/taste different

Agreed ... though that's probably not the source of the odor problem.

Wear cotton undies, wash, get a second opinion from another ob/gyn, make sure no yeast infections, make sure your meds aren't having a bad interaction, drink cranberry juice - there's alot you can try but in the end - you may just have to accept it as just the way you are.

Since your "odor issue" seems to coincide with your menstrual cycle, it's probably nothing to worry about. (key word: probably) But you should get a second opinion either way.

What you should determine is whether or not the odor is accompanied by any changes in the discharge from your vagina. It's common for vaginal discharge to increase and get a little thicker around the time of your period. If you notice a change from what's normal for you, note the following:

Odor
Color
Consistency

Normal discharge: odorless or slightly "sweaty"; clear or creamy; thick, thin, or stringy
Abnormal discharge: foul-smelling; green, yellow, gray; frothy, watery, or cheesy

As far as washing yourself, of course hygeine is very important. But some soaps can actually make vaginal odor worse. I can't remember the specific names at the moment, but definetely stay away from douches.
