[QUOTE=Quote ]Police are examining whether a student who plans to sell her virginity on the internet is breaking the law.
Rosie Reid, 18, a Bristol University social policy student from Dulwich, London, said she wants the cash to avoid graduating with too many debts.
According to her website, she has closed the sale after receiving a £8,400 bid on Sunday.
But a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said the force was looking at the case.
"It's a strange one because it's a grey area," he said.
"We are taking advice. I think it's probably illegal because it's like soliciting, but we are taking legal advice over the matter."
A spokeswoman for the university said: "As far as the university is concerned we have no comment as it's not a university issue and the student is an adult."
Miss Reid's mother Jenny, said: "We have tried to talk her out of it. We have told her we would rather she didn't do this, and would hope that she won't.
"She did tell us about it when she knew it was going to be reported by the media."

This article doesn't mention that she's a lesbian, or that her father is a doctor and mother a nurse, or that she's working the same as most college students. A simple google search will reveal plenty of articles with all the deatils you want...

Oh, so the focus was suppose to be on college tuition? She chose a strange way to highlight it.
I mean, there were sooo many more interesting topics...virgins, lesbians, prostitution, etc...lol
According to the British people I've talked to, it was a charade to protest the high tuitions to universities. Oh well, it was at least worth a laugh....
I'm not really sure how I feel about this article. Or what the fact that she is a lesbian has to do with anything.
If anyone wants to follow this story I hope they also read Virginity For Sale; or, How I May Chuck Everything and Become a Bum by Brian Evankovich. It's funny as well as insightful. You learn that she is not the only girl to try this. There is an American girl as well- she has a lot of credit card debt; no mention was made about whether she was a lesbian or not.
There is also an American male offering to deflower virgins.....for a nominal fee. Now, guys, there is a set-up; you get sex and they pay you for it. No mention was made of trying, or even investigating, him for prostitution or soliciting.
I'm not sure what the topic of discussion or debate is here. Prostitution? Virginity? Lesbians? The high cost of college? The poor economy?.............what?
