I dont know if I am in the right part of the forums to ask this, but here goes. A online buddy of mine is right now, 20, he is been chating with this girl, who is 15 atm. She will be getting leagely emancipation after her 16th birthday. I am worried for him, as she will still be under the age of 18.
What I am wanting to know before I say anything..
If anything was to happan between them.. Would her beening emancipation rule out the part of her being under 18 and make anything that happans leagel or would it still matter?
This varies widely from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Different countries, different provinces. Here in the UK the laws are different among Scotland, England and Wales. Emancipation at 16 sounds like somewhere other than a major industrial country.
Generally, sex with a minor is sex with a minor. That is the question you (he) should be asking.

Look up age of consent for the Commonwealth of Virginia. (I'll bet most of you did not expect to know that Virginia is a commonwealth!) Forget the stuff about emancipation.

Emancipation will have no effect upon age of consent - sorry - but you're buddy is making a HUGE mistake. The Commonwealth of Virginia is VERY strict on this topic and 18 remains the age of consent.
