Well...when you consider the degree of expansion that area is capable of in preparing to deliver a baby, any small(er) object ought to be accommodated pretty easily, right? Wrong. The vaginal entrance varies in its resiliency from person to person. For a person with little or no experience with intercourse, more often than not the vaginal opening will only accept one mansize finger, or maybe two and that's it. The more experience and the more stretching the opening goes through the better able a person is to accept larger objects (penis or toy) without discomfort.
I often recommend a stretching exercise that a person can do to help make the opening more resilient and it seems to help.

There may be several reasons why she enjoyed the experience. Two at the top of the list are; one, that the dildo stimulates the very sensitive nerve endings surrounding the entrance as well as those just inside; second, that it gives her a sense of fullness that many women report liking. As for other reasons, you'll just have to ask her!

Most women can over time accept two or perhaps three fingers. As for various size dildos, you just have to work with a person and over time and when relaxed she should be able to accommodate the larger objects comfortably. The key is to never force the matter or poke or shove. Use pressure and lots of lube. This goes for the vagina as well as the anus.
