I did a read through on the stickies and checked out the index, did a few searches...hope I didn't miss anything.
I noticed that anywhere from 1-3 days before my period I have an intense itching. It is not with every period but just about. I had tried a yeast infection treatment once thinking that maybe the cause, I used to get them alot as a teen from wearing tight jeans I guess. It did not help. It always stops the day my period begins though.
There is no odor, just a thicker (clear) discharge which I have always experienced right before.
I was wondering if this is a common thing? I thought possibly due to ph balance shifting in preparation and is there anything recommended? It drives me to the point sometimes that I feel like I could scratch myself raw. :(
Thank-you.

The chemistry of the pudenda changes with the changing hormones before your period. The chemical balance of the vagina is being upset. This could allow a yeast to take charge for a few days (we all have the organisms present) and the ecology is balanced out as the hormones change again.
There some meds not available over the counter that could help. Ask your doctor. I have dealt with these situations that way and recommend a thorough cleansing about twice as often as the rest of the month.
Thanks Brandye. :)
I always assumed that was the case. I know my body very well, and always thought it might be something like that. After the yeast treatment didn't work I figured it was just a balance upset, I wanted to double check here before I mention this to my doctor, he is kind of an idiot. He treats me like I have no clue what I am talking about when I do....it's my body and I know when something is off.
Anyhow, I do wash twice as much, I think I drive my hubby nuts because sometimes he thinks I am in the washroom taking my time doing something else, when in fact I am just cleaning up. I have always been into hygeine, and anything like that bothers me.
Thanks for the advice, I will ask next time I go in.
Oh...also, this is something I have never brought up with the doc, and apparently this happens to my mom as well. During the first day or two of our periods, we both suffer with bouts of diarrhea. Would this be a symptom of dysmennhorea (sp?)? I was diagnosed with that, but as far as I could surmise it was just because of the severe cramping.
I realize not much can probably been done about that but just curious from a medical stand point.

I am curious about this one too b/c the same thing happens to me.
I don't really get cramps as far as menstrual cramps. My lower back will ache a bit but I do have upset stomach and diarrhea like the 1st day or 2 of my flow.
Doesnt help my feelings one bit! lol
Yes, some women do have loose bowels on those PMS days. This can contribute to the itching as well.
