The itching

Ok. Here comes the rant. I went to a doctor, but it wasn't exactly what I expected (I was having horrific visions of metal prongs and pain because of my friends. 9_9). Not good, but it wasn't as bad as I expected.

I dunno, the lady just had me open my legs and swabbed me. She said something about me being small and not wanting to hurt me by going too deep and my hymen has a small opening or something.

TT' I'm a little miffed, cause I know I have discharge, but when I was being examined I was actually dry. Maybe I just need to stop getting so aroused all the time.... Anyways, I was given a single pill that was supposed to work for a week to get rid of any yeast infection that possibly could have been there, but I was told my problem, since it's mostly external, is probably because of the water and soap when I wash.

HOW. How in the world do I keep clean if I can't put soap down there, or even water? I was told to BOIL water before using it to wash, because my skin's so sensitive. I mean, I don't scrub, I don't put soap all down in there, but when it itches it's my natural reaction to feel that something cool or wet should go there. Two, maybe three years of itching, I can't take it anymore! I'm almost USED to it now, and it's horrible. I'm embarrassed to say it, but I do masterbate frequently and at this point I can't even do that because touching makes me itchy and if I put my hands down there I can't stop myself from scratching.

I'm starting to think this is never going to go away. I can't stop water from touching my skin when I shower and the water here is pretty bad.

Alright, I'm done now. I just really needed to type out the frustration. -___-,

Well what kind of soap are you using now?
For my body I use all those scented body washs and stuff but for down there I use something like Ivory.
They make washes for there... like summer's eve and stuff.
I wouldn't use a deodorant soap or ones w/ lots of dyes and perfumes.

If you have been determined to have "sensitive skin," then you will likely react to almost any chemical combination used for cleansing. If you are so sensitive that you have been told to boil the water, it is a rather extreme sensitivity. You may want to see a dermatologist or you may wish to switch to a soap available at a health food store or herbalist.

By all means, stay away from anything scented. Clear liquid soaps are more easily rinsed than either the opaque liquids or bar soap.

Well, I've always avoided scented things because they make my legs get spotty and itchy... what I'm concerned about is, if it's the water that's causing the problem because I can't avoid getting a little down there when showering and boiling it every time I want to wash between the legs would be a real hassle.

My mom usually gets dove soap, but I've been looking around for soaps that might be gentler (there's not much selection at Family Dollar where we do our quick necessity rounds 9_9).

I don't know, mom just seems to brush me off whenever I bring it up. I think she just expected whatever the doctor gave me to do it's thing and when it wasn't a cure she just gave up on the problem.

:(
wasn't this the case when you wanted to go to the DR in the first place? and she put it off and off and wasn't too concerned about getting you help sooner.
I mean just b/c its "down there" doesn't mean it should be avoided all together. If you were having this same issue but it was w/ another body part say foot or eye or something... would she be acting this way???

I don't know. I guess since the doctor said it was most likely water and soap irritation she doesn't think it's a big deal.

If she were the one itching constantly, she may thin it's a big deal. You seem able to deflect any suggestion anyone gives you. If you just want to complai, put it on your blog. You have gotten some appropriate suggestions here and with your earlier thread.

Tell the doctor exactly what is going on and how uncomfortable you are. Then follow the suggestions. If you have to buy your own soap at a different place, do it. There are soaps specifically for sensitve bodies. Do not identify them from their adverts; ask a pharmacist/chemist.

Sorry, I'm not meaning to brush off the advice or anything- I do intend to follow it if I can.

Well, my aunt's buying me all Cetaphil products now- they're working nicely for now and don't leave any itchy residue, but I'll hold back any real comment until at a week's passed. At least it doesn't seem to be irritating my skin any further. On top of that, she's buying me mineral oil, like baby oil, without any scents, so I don't have to use any lotions that irritate my legs.

Do these sound like a decent start?

It is progress and you are finding relief.
