I havent had a regular period in over a year, normally i get it every other month or so, i was wondering if its still possible for me to get pregnant during the times that i am likely not to have a period. If that makes sense.

Yes, you can still become pregnant. Reason being, you do not know if you will have a period the upcoming month and furthermore you have no idea when you will ovulate.
You need to see a doc for a checkup to find out why you are having menstrual irregularities.
..... and you must be particularly careful using contraception. Consider yourself fertile ALL the time. Condom plus vaginal spermicide EVERY time.
