Ingrown hairs...need some tips...

I don't shave my vaginal area because it can be really irritating and itchy when it grows back, however, i do keep it trim. One annoying thing is that every once in a while i get ingrown hairs that look like bumps or pimples, sometimes small, sometimes large. they're not painful, but i'm sure they don't look that great, and truthfully if i was a guy i wouldn't want to be licking on anything that resembles a bump. I know that's all it is because i recently passed all my tests with flying colors, i just think it's my curly hair. At the time when i had my annual gyn exam, of course i didn't have any to show the doc; so i just need some advice of how to prevent them, get rid of them or treat them quickly so it won't prevent me from getting head when i feel like some. :)

I have the same issues on those rare occasions I trim the edges. Keep clean and trim as little as necessary. Not much help; not much to offer.

I wish I knew how to prevent them too, but basically I haven't found any good remedies either. Shaving 24/7 has helped me a little - if I don't let it grow back much. I usually trim it especially for my guy (we are in a LDR so this is like once every three weeks for me) but on the down times let it grow out again because I think it's more comfortable for me that way. I hate that itchy and irritated feeling from my panties rubbing against where I've shaved all day. (Which, BTW, I am sure is what helps in causing those ingrown hairs.) If I notice one, I try to get it out myself while in the shower, so it will be gone and won't get too infected or gross. My BF shaves too so he understands ingrown hairs and doesn't get too grossed out by them. I know it doesn't look pretty but I think it's just a fact of life.

i sometimes get ingrowns and i pick them out with a sanatized needle and some tweezers. sometimes they are accompanied by pus and it is so gross! But recently I bought this stuff that is supposed to minimize bikini line bumps called bikini zone. It has lidocane in it so I'm sure you can find any cream with that drug in it and it will help. I also use conditioner on my pubic hair to relax it so it won't curl up so badly.
Also, shaving is way too painful for me. I use surgi-wax, the brazillian formula. I do not wax everything, just the hair outside the panty line. The wax comes with an oil that prevents the wax from sticking to the skin. You put the oil on, heat the wax up, spread it on, let it cool a bit, and rip it off. I suggest getting it professionally done a few times to get used to the feeling and watching to see how it's done. I have tons of stray hairs that completely destroy all feelings of sexiness!!! Shaving never worked, plucking would take a million years, professional waxing is too expensive to get done every week, so I am just sharing what works for me!

Lidocaine is simply a pain killer. Your dentist uses it to numb your mouth. It can be used as a topical to reduce otching or irritation but it does nothing to remove hair.

I do shave my vaginal area. When I am done I use a crystal salt scub around the area in the shower for about 2-3 days after to make sure I don't get ingrowns. I also use a alcohol based cleanser to clean any dirt or oil that may still be there because after shaving your skin is very sensitive... Its just like all the rest of your skin. If you get one or two, I suggest that you just use a steralized needle and just break the skin and let the hair come out and pluck it. DO not become a surgeon and try to multilate your self, becareful it can cause scaring if done improperly but if done right the irritating bump with go away.

As a person who always has issues shaving.. whether it be 40 billion ingrown hairs 2 days later or severe itching a day later which leads to hives, I have finally found something that eases the itching and severely decreases the amount of ingrown hairs.
I use the Veet Bladeless Razor first, and then once I rinse all that off and get in the tub, I then use the real razor to shave to pretty much get rid of anything the cream might've missed or was just too stubborn to come off. It is seriously the only way I don't really really want to claw off my legs the next day from all the itching I do. I assume it has something to do with the moisturizers in the Veet but I really don't know. I also don't get like any ingrown hairs, especially around the underwear leg line where the undies constantly rub.

I haven't tried just the Veet Hair Removal Gel Cream, but it should work about the same.. and I plan to try it soon anyways as it's usually a dollar or so cheaper because you don't have to pay for the bladeless razor each time.

It doesn't really last any longer than shaving for me, but it's a lot better than itching and ingrown hairs.
I tried Nair before but that never did any good for me. It also smells a whole lot worse than the Veet... or well, at least the Veet Floral Sensation scent. Haven't tried any of the other ones. lol.

Anyways, I'd say try that route if you'd like.

Shaving more frequently and consistently the same way each time has helped me in decreasing the ingrown hairs and the little pimples. Reading quite a bit about it on the internet, I discovered the best remedy is to always use a new razor each time, and always go with the grain of the hair. Do not shave against the grain if you are experiencing irritation afterward.

The other relief I have found is.... I do not towel dry roughly... pat dry.... then soon after I reach for a soothing aloe vera gel I bought for my sunburns in the summer. The gel label says: moisturizing, cooling, relief for sunburned, dry irritated skin. Contains no alcohol. I find that my irritations have been reduced immensely. I bought this bottle from walmart. But I am sure that other gels or creams would be helpful as well. So far I have discovered this works great, and until I cannot find it in the stores anymore, I will continue using it before finding something else that will work as effectively.

I like the aloe vera gel since once it is absorbed into my skin, it is not oily feeling and my skin feels dry and smooth.

I feel rather lucky. I haven't gotten in since I started using Schick Intuition razors. I don't get any irritation or anything. Just nice smooth skin. I have eczema so I have to use the sensitive skin formulas.

-feels awkward-

Am I the only person in the world who shaves and then plucks when they start growing back?

I've been shaving for a couple of years now. I always, alwasy use shaving cream though, and once I get out either Bikino zone or Neosporin. So far, I have not encountered too many problems.
