Yes, do all the other stuff you have not done, first, before ever getting to intercourse. I'd suggest holding off on intercourse for a long time and devote your time and attention to all the making out and stuff that leads up to sex. You need to learn and appreciate how to walk before you can run.

if he tries to go in the whole way and pump as hard as he can while you aren't wet enough yes it might hurt and yes it can rip skin... tell him to take it slow and maybe only go in half way or so until you get comfortable and more wet and the vaginal opening is more stretched...
Just tell him how much and how fast until you are comfortable then increase this.
