Hey everyone. When I was young, around 14 or 15 years old, I was diagnosed as having a tilted uterus. Well, I have never been able to comfortably wear a tampon and have always had to rely on pads. I have tried all different sizes of them but none of them work. I can always feel it inside me and it's incredibly annoying and I end up taking it back out within 10 minutes. What can I do to avoid this happening in the future?

I always feel the tampon inside me

Two thoughts:
1. Try tampons without applicator. They are much smaller to begin with but do expand to the size of usual ones when full. These may give you a longer time before causing undue pressure.
2. Try the disposable menstrual cups (Instead). They capture the menstrual fluid without adding girth and are unlikely to cause problems. I used reusable cups during my days but if tampons do not work for you, those likely would not either. I had leakage problems with the disposables but those women who are the right size, seem to like them.
You may also wish to discuss this with the nurse at your gyn office. It is possible that you are not getting quite the right position. Most of us have had this problem at one time or another. Possibly placing the tampon a bit deeper or at a different angle may help.
Dear spicygirl,
I don't know how a tilted uterus would exactly affect you, since I do not have a medical background or share your experience... But I do have been annoyed by tampons  So maybe this will help:
Since about a year, I really love [url=http://www.beppy.com//index?l=4]Beppy Wet soft tampons. Don't feel a thing while wearing :) Very gentle and soft material, not the stiff kind that 'unfolds' while putting it in, so easy to put in. To get it out; you just need to be able to reach back to get the little loop, as it has no cord. Usually you place it close to your cervix, although it also works perfectly when it's not so close to your cervix. It shapes to your body! A pity that it is more expensive than regular ones... Takes way more fluid than a maxi-tampon, so that tends to compensate ;) It is worth my money having a happy period! :)
Good luck!

Oh okay. Thanks Brandye! I think I will bring this up with my Gynecologist at my next visit.

Hey thanks! Unfortunately, I really can't afford very expensive tampons. I can afford name brand but probably not a brand like the ones you mentioned.
Does anyone know what the most comfortable brand would be? I really don't care if the applicator is plastic or cardboard. Also, I prefer tampons that do have an applicator.
I also have a tilted uterus and don't have a problem with tampons.I use name brand non applicator ones but have occasionally used applicators.I also find it is easier to insert them while sitting on the toilet or with one leg resting on the edge of the bath, these positions help to get correct angle as i do have problems if tampon is not inserted properly
Raunchy,
Your ecperience is more typical: a little extra care and it is all right. The problems are dependent upon the specific anatomy of the woman with the tilted uterus. Spicy will get it right but with even more extra care.
