Hysterectomy

Dose this affect sex at all and does it change a woman’s sex drive what are the complications if any?

I am focusing this question to woman who have had it done but all input is appreciated
Please can you state if you have had it done so I can evaluate the anser
Thanks all
:o

I have not had a hysterectomy but there are two ways; one is to leave the ovaries and the other removes them (depends on why the surgery is being done). The most common complaint post-hyterectomy is; decrease in sex drive/desire/lube generally due to loss of hormones which are produced via the ovaries. After a hysterectomy with a bilateral oophorectomy HRT is used to replace the hormones, unless the surgery was done b/c of an estrogen sensitive tumor/cancer or if the patient has a very strong history of breast ca.

Surgical complications of a hysterectomy? Menopause, bleeding (post-op), death, infection, adheasions, etc. It's a procedure which can be done through cutting an incision through the abdomen or it can be done transvaginally; meaning the physician goes through the vaginal canal and performs the surgery. I there are less risks & complications with the transvag.

Among women who do not have their ovaries removed (that is, only the uterus removed), there is sometimes an increase in sexual desire. The possibility of pregnancy is removed and she just relaxes more. Some women do report a decrease in orgasmic intensity but, generally, things work pretty much the same as before.

Thanks All
