I recently had sex for the 1st time.. and when i got a look at "myself" right after I noticed i've torn down there. The rip is basically on the opening of my vagina i guess..it bled.. which i heard is normal. did I rip my hymen? the hymen is that thin peice of skin sorta covering the vaginal opening right? I'm scared ive torn somthing i shouldnt have torn. ive been using tampons for over a year now.. so i assumed my hymen was gone or atleast stretched.. should i see a doctor?

Hmm ... if you are looking at your vagina in the mirror chances are you are not looking at your hymen... unless you have a very great flashlight and a great mirror ... chances are you tore something that didn't need to be torn... you hymen is way back in your vagina... if there is any pain or further bleeding then i would see a doctor... basically if it gets worse or happens again then either see a doctor. If you tore something while having sex then give it time to heal itself. Do you see the tear? If so try putting like neosporain on it unless you aren't suppose to i don't know i never had that happen to me but read the bottle to see if you can't put it there.... hope it heals up but give us more details i am a little iffy on it all.

blinkerbaby here is a link to some posts about hymens. actually i believe thats what you are seeing b/c these all say that the hymen is at the vaginal entrance.

The chances are overwhelming that you tore your hymen - something we all do one way or another. Tampons often do it or other interesting behavior can cause it to tear. Tough ones will stretch a bit but still be there. It is unlike that you will have the issue again although some shreds may be remaining. Use planty of vaginal jelly next time - for protection (in addition to the condom) and make it easier for yourself.
