well... a mate of mine was askin cause he knows im a regular here. to post his situation. so here it is...
he and his gf were doing the wild thing and when they had finished they noticed there was little semen in the condom. this being because the condom had broke, then leakage from her vagina followed.
Now, having said this he wants to know how long before the semen reaches the egg so to speak and fertilisation begins.
he is planning on getting 3 morning after pills... one for next morning, one for morning after that, one for morning after that. hence 3 days before it fertilises?
is this correct. does it fertilise in 3 days or is it sooner?? is it work her taking the morning after pill twice the next day and once the day after that?
i know he prob shouldn't have been doin it but thats not the point. what has happened has happened and now he needs info..
any1 able to privide more details info on this than me... im not one to 100% guarantee what will happen or how it works. cheers

You have 72 hours after the "incident" to take the morning after pill. The sooner you take it the better the odds of it working.
I am not sure about how the MAP comes... if it's just 1 pill... or a series of pills. But tell him not to overdose him g/f in hope that more will make it work better... just take as directed...whatever the DR or RPH says.
Planned Parenthood
Here is the way you use Plan B:
http://www.go2planb.com/ForConsumers/TakingPlanB/Default.aspx
In order for a woman to become pregnant, she has to ovulate, have an egg ready to be fertilized (sperm can live for up to three days). How long does it take for an egg to be fertilized? It's not immediate but the timeframes can vary.
Plan B stops the release of the egg (ovulation) and prevents the egg if released from attaching to the uterine wall.
There is only a need to take plan B one time (one set); it's done over two days. Don't take three "sets" of pills.
i know there is no point taking 3 but will taking two sets reduce the risk at all?
also can you just get these from your local pharmacy or can you only get it from a local GP..
cheers.
No I don't think it would make it any better.... when did all of this happen?
EC must be started up to 120 hours — five days — after unprotected intercourse to reduce the risk of pregnancy. The sooner it is started, the better. EC reduces the risk of pregnancy by 75-89 percent when started within 72 hours.
That's the odds most likely.
Under the "how to take" section of the link I posted... it states that nausea will most surely follow. If his g/f overdoses on hormones...she'll probably be so sick she can't keep the pills down...her cycle will already be out of whack and that would make it even worse!
If you vomit the second dose, do not take any extra pills. They probably won't reduce the risk of pregnancy. But they will probably make you sick to your stomach.
Ok yea that wouldn't make a difference

It can be bought a the local pharmacy, such as Walgreens. There is no benefit to taking it twice (2 sets). Once supresses ovulation & the attachment of the egg if already released. Don't over do it!
ok... well he has informed me about 30 mins ago of what happened.. it is 11:15pm here. he is going out at 8am to get it... will that be ok for him...
sorry for questions but i am new on this kind of subject and wasn't going to give him false information.
That's very good... its in less than 12 hrs and like above states the sooner the better up to 72 hrs for the best results.
Where do you live Vper?
Oh and like one website said....a woman should always have some form of EC on hand. That way...when all of this happened...she could have took it like immediately after. I guess in that case your buddy could buy 2...one for now and one if needed in the future (lets hope not).
And make sure the g/f is aware of the side effects than can occur... and what to expect the next day... its on that above website as well.
in the UK you can get them from your pharmacy (even in Tescos!) or your GP
The sperm that scores usually will have done that within a matter of minutes. Plan B is good but for god sake only one set! The sooner the better. TAKE ONLY AS DIRECTED!
Taking more than one will not increase the chances of working but will surely make her feel crappy for a while.
The way the morning after pill works is very similar to how the regular daily pill works. If she has not ovulated, it will retard ovulation. If she has ovulated, it will reduce the chance of fertilization. If the gg has been fertilized, it will prevent implantation in the uterine wall. If it is already implanted, time for Plan C.

I honestly never knew, nor was taught that it was this quick. Do you know off hand any good reading materials on this? Not questioning you rather looking to learn more about the subject. I learned it takes the viable sperm some time to reach it's destination, sperm can live 3 days, only X amount are viable, etc. I want to read more about the specifics... Tnx
Only look if you know where it's found off the top of your head! Otherwise I'll take your quote as enough info.
ok. she took it 10-11 hours after it happened and 12 hours on the dot for second one.. which makes it 95% effective they say... but how long do the sick/headache/symptoms from the tablets last?? jus wanderin. never occured this before.
yes i know she may still be pregnant but lets say the pill worked and it stopped the pregnancy then how long do the symptoms from the tablets last?
Possible Side Effects
Side effects associated with the use of EC usually taper off within a day or two.
Half of the women who take the combination pills feel sick to their stomachs, but only for about 24 hours. Less than one out of five women vomit with combination pills.
The risk of nausea and vomiting is much lower with progestin-only EC - less than one in four women feel sick to their stomachs.
Breast tenderness, irregular bleeding, dizziness, and headaches may also occur.

This is the only thing I found online.
Doesn't the package insert mention anything?? I've never taken MAP so I have no idea how long they can last... I would "assume" until the hormoes are mostly gone....but remember she'll probably be irregular for a month or so until her hormones settle back down.
