Most women have similar questions (doubts?) at some point in their teens. Some resolve it in favour of heterosexuality and some homosexuality and some of us never quite resolve the issue. Your mum is correct: there is nothing to be done, now or later. Life unfolds as it unfolds and with each passing year there is increasing evidence that our predilections are in our genes.
I have lived parts of my life as straight and parts as lesbian and mostly as an active bisexual. It is something to wonder about at fifteen but nothing to worry about. No one can answer the question for you; you will discover the answer as life unfolds.

Unless you are saying that you are the only girl in your school, there are many others who have had the same curiousity. If you do not feel safe "trying" (whatever that means), then don't. Little about sexuality is cleared up by "trying;" things unfold. If you want to be receptive to others, fine; if not, fine. Surely you have some good friends with whom this could be discussed without "trying." Girls are girls. We talk about many things and this should be no different than concerns about growing breasts, beginning our periods or issues with boys.
