"Years ago"? This reminds me of an afternoon talk radio program from S.F. On one particular day the host had a discussion about the Gay lifestyle and had referred to this several times using the word "Gaydom". Well, wouldn't you know it...after an hour or so of this enlightening topic a little old retired school teacher called in to correct the host's grammar. Said she: "...the word is not "Gaydom", it is "Gaiety!"
Thanks, Bear, I knew that yet couldn't help being a bit facetious, above.

Life without dancing? I don't think so...... The feet may learn the steps; yet only the spirit can dance! Dancing is the fastest way to get a girl alone and into your arms in public. The Tango smolders and burns. It ignites the heart, the soul, and yes, the libido. Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning how to Dance in the Rain! Dance as if nobody is watching. |

Alright, I looked it up on wikipedia and now I'm going to answer my own question...
"In the latter part of the 20th century, some Americans and Europeans adopted the convention that when a man pierced just one of his ears, it symbolized his being gay(homosexual). In some circles, it was the left ear, while in others, the right. ... However, the convention tended to vary from one region to the next, and was not always followed. ... Since the early 1990s, it is widely accepted that the right ear piercing plays this role." The things you can learn on the internet... I just found out about the "hanky code", too. Anyway, maybe it doesn't mean anything in the gay community anymore, but I know it still has meaning to us straight guys.

Oh, I think you can take it.
http://alt.xmission.com/~trevin/hanky.html It's mostly a cruise bar thing. It's still used, but not as much as the eighties and nineties. Unless I take a cheat card I never know what anything means! ![]() |
