Brandye is a jewel in the rough
Live, love, enjoy. Some will come around and some will not. There is not a thing you can say or do to accelerate resolution.

Live your life and give them time. When bisexual (or gay) people come out, they are usually upset that not everyone immediately accepts them. Remember though, you've had time to think about this and come to terms with it... they haven't. Allow them the same time you took.

As Brandye says, some still won't accept it, but many will. In the end, the only person who really has to be comfortable with your life is you.

Take care.

I cannot for the life of me understand why your sexual orientation would be of interest to others. A friend of mine is probably the most knowledgeable person on the planet when it comes to things Gay, having earned a Ph.D and written several books on the topic, yet it seems as if announcing to the world that "I am Gay/Lesbian" is somehow a matter of crucial and critical import. I just do not get the importance nor do I understand the driving need.

Even more obnoxious is this ever present fact that seems to come up subtly in most every conversation as if to remind us lest one of us (dare) forget.

I believe it is just fine to share this bit of personal information with selected family members or a confidant, yet way over the top to broadcast it to all within earshot.

By the way, I'm ...............; on second thought, why tell several thousand of my new best friends as if it mattered or any of you cared.

Well, Dancingdoc, I don't think you need tell us your sexual orientation... your post does very nicely. When you live day to day in a world that makes assumptions about sexuality, then it does become of some importance when you don't fit in with those assumptions.

I started a new job recently. One of the first questions I was asked by a co-worker is "Are you married?" Now, tell me... does THAT not concern my sexuality? The world is completely geared toward heterosexuality... and if you happen to be heterosexual then you don't even notice it.

Little experiment... turn on your television. Watch three minutes of commercials. Okay... how many are aimed at a straight person? Wash your hair with {insert product} to look good for the opposite sex. Use {whichever} deodorant/perfume to smell good for the opposite sex. Buy this car to attract the opposite sex. Drink this beer to be appealing to the opposite sex. And you don't even have to guess... the opposite sex is IN the commercial. A vast majority of television, movies, and literature all assume that everyone is straight.

Some of us would like to let them know that we AREN'T.

Live your life the way you want to. Eventually they'll understand
and except your life style. If not at least you're happy. We all have
this problem when we first come out.
